Well thought I'd post a little update as had another look at the car this evening and it seems the car running ok was a fluke as took the car for a little drive, less than 400m, and smoking like a biatch and temp sensor got up to 90 degrees in that short amount of time.

Got back and checked under oil cap and mayo starting to form so pretty much proves its the head gone...hope there is nothing else...... :(

Try not to drive it inbetween mate, If the head has gone and it over heats you could do a lot of damadge, Also ask them if they are going to skim the head when they do it.

Check for air bubbles on the dip stick aswell

No bubbles on dip stick that I can see its all covered in black stuff..........;):p

Smell the coolant tank too.

Well the coolant has a burnt smell to it and no doubt whats causing the smoke now as smells the same.

Spoke to TTS this AM and they went through the motions of what will be done and they said when it is all stripped down they will assess the head and get it skimmed if needed.

I'd be inclined to put it down to turbo seals. A blown head gasket on a 72k 1.8T without an underlying overheating problem is pretty much unheard of, in fact a blown head gasket on the 1.8T is almost non existent in any circumstance.

I was told once by a dealer that HG was common after 60k, but as said its not something that comes up on here.
