Well never seems to end with my LCR on Saturday had 2 coilpacks die on me and managed to get replacements and fitted yesterday and car felt great.

Now today went to pick the missus up and car felt really sluggish so got home had some tea and went out to have a look at and fired her up only to find plooms of white really smelly smoke being blown out.

Pretty sure I've f:censored:d it up this time.

Any ideas what white smoke is a sign off?

I have a pretty good idea just don't want to think about them...........:(

Yea sorry just totally gutted!! Car was running really roughly and boost appeared on gauge but seemed to be overboosting which lead me to believe it was a boost leak. Whilst waiting for the missus had a little look for anything untoward and nothing obvious.

Had new coilpacks & MAF recently but shouldn't make any odds really I guess.

Water in header ok & no mayo under oil cap. Car has run for about 5 mins since this happened so I wouldn't really expect that yet.

Head gasket? White is usually related to water. Check the oil, does it look slimey in there?

Whats the mileage out of curiosity?

No mayo under the cap and mileage only 72k and I've had it since 45k and treated it well.

Isn't turbo white smoke as well??

Now I'll be the 1st to admit that I'm a bit of a n00b when it comes to Head Gasket/Turbo Failure as never having experienced it 1st hand myself but from a cold engine how long would you expect before getting the nice white smoke screen back if turbo or head gasket had failed considering it would have been worth of a Bond film last night or would it be back within a few mins??

Reason I ask is started the car up this AM before heading off to work and let it run for 5 mins and gave a couple of gentle prods of the throttle and all I got was little puffs of condensation that you would expect when starting a car 1st thing. I know I could be smoke less as engine not warmed up but last night when I started it up and got smoke straight away the car had been cooling for 1 1/2 hrs so was only warm and not hot.

Ideas on how long it should be before seeing smoke again??

This is a little ray of hope that I'm trying to cling hold off..............

I'd have said 5 mins is long enough, might be different when driving and "under load"

Hmmmm thats what I thought. I'll take it for a drive tonight and see what happens but really hoping its not turbo/headgasket failure as can't afford it at the mo so will have it sat for a while if it is.:(

I have the same problem, car is only on 50k.

Last night I went to reverse the car (after it was left standing for about 10mins with engine running), and white smoke came out of exhaust.. it doesnt do it all the time , but its worrying me now.

It runs ok, temp seems to be ok all the time, but tis just worrying me now?

When I have a full car, the exhaust is mounted incorrectly so it rubs, I don't know if something has split there to make it smoke?

Suppose I will have to just take it to a seat dealer to find the problem... but I don't like the sound of things :(

What could white smoke be? Starting to worry me now, as its always smoked more than normal cars when it's cold etc...
