You need to remove/loosen the black plastic shroud from the boot door.

Remove the screws (some are located within the interanl close handles) and gently pull the black cover away from the door (in addition silly little metal clips are used).

Once you've loosened this you should be able to see pipe and connection near the wiper motor. As previously said, mine had popped off so I popped mine back on (just push it back on).

Beware a royal pain in arse to do and you'll cut your arms to ribbons on the sharp plastic within the cover/shroud

I didn't remove the cover totally, just enough to squeeze my arm in.

Cheers,

Charlie :)

It is probably the brass pipe that connects the fluid feed to the nozzle which runs through the centre of the motor spindle. Common weakness - it corrodes then snaps.

If your nozzle moves with the wiper arm it's f**ked

VAG parts sell a repair kit for it.

This has happened to mine! how much is the repair kit, or would it be simpler to replace the whole unit? does it just unbolt and slide through the window or something? any help greatly appreciated!

happened to me about a month ago...

remove the 2 screws in the bootlid grab handles. If you're not comfortable yanking large bits of plastic (like me), also remove the light cluster bulb covers and use a long flat edged screwdriver to prize the clips out.

not sure on that mate, I only prized mine off enough so that I could get my hand up there and put the pipe back on :(

yeah the motors fine but have just noticed a slight damp patch below the 12v power outlet so am going to have to take some of the boot apart

Happens in cold weather sometimes (and its been bl00dy cold)

water in pipe freezes (and expands), pipe pops off either near wheel arch, or directly under the wiper in the tailgate

Best remedy is to mix your screen wash stronger, as this will help stop it freezing

what's happened with mine is not a simple pop the pipe back on, its the brass pipe which runs through the center of the spindle and out the other side of the rear screen to the actual jet if that makes sense.

meaning I have the "washer jet moving with the wiper arm" syndrome! I would actually prefer it to do that if it wasn't leaking screenwash into the boot ha ha! but I need to fix it! especially in this weather hate not being able to see out the rear screen.

Has anyone replaced this unit?

sorted it now....took the washer motor off, just 3 nuts and removing the wiper and it will slide through. Got a whole new motor from the scrappy for £35.00 and replaced it so all working good now. I couldn't go down the replacement brass tube route as it was stuck in the old motor.

Hi all, im having this problem now too! [:@]

When i use the rear jets no water hits the rear window but instead water is coming out from the left hand side back wheel arch and a small amount from under the boot handle.

How much would it cost to sort this from the stealers? or is it easy to fix?

Why am i getting water dropping out from the rear wheel arch??

I would imagine that is leaking out of the joint which is somewhere behind the carpet on the left hand side of the boot. Best way to find out how much it will cost from the stealers is to ask them...your under no obligation to get the work done there for an enquiry.

It will be cheaper to do it yourself though, it just depends how confident you are with removing bits of interior carpet/trim. Its fairly straight forward and there is a wealth of information in some of the other threads

Got this problem on my fr. \i can hear the pump working away but no water coming through. As far as I can see everything is connected fine in the tailgate could the blockage be near the 12v outlet as mentioned.? Thanks

My mates pipe had also popped off at the reservoir.

He found this out by the puddle under the engine after trying the jets whilst stationary.

VAG parts sell a repair kit for it.

Your VAG dealer will be able to provide the repair kit for the rear wiper motor.

It's about €25 (euros)

Order # : Rear wiper motor repair kit = 8L0 998 711

HI all just thought i would add to this.

I had the same problem with mine! I tried to get the boot lid of but gave up! lol instead i put on my back washers jet until i knew were the problem was. i formed a damp patch near the 12v socket on the left hand side in the boot over the wheel arch. Once i knew were it was i unscrewed the 2 screws on the left and pulled back the carpet. Then i unclipped the part that the parcel shelf clips onto so i could get access to the pipe, i could see clearly were it had popped off and just pushed it back in! Its really easy to do!

If anyone needs any advice or would like me to put some pics up of the process then let me know ;)

Mine works a little but there is water coming out from the rear wheel arch from the outside??

How do i get to it? from the inside of the boot or not?? Annoying me coz every time i use the rear washer im left with water behind my left rear wheel. Its like my LC is Weeing.

Mine's also got a damp patch in the boot so will have to whip the carpet up and take a peek. Pic's would be great though.
