Well I gave it a go using the intructions above and still no joy. After going through the steps above, and the manual method, and about 3 other methods, the red LED on the new remote kept flashing constantly but no horn or lights flashing on the car, and the new remote won't lock or unlock it either. I told her if she's that fussed about it to take it to the dealer :censored:

OK, I'm now getting a little confused with this thread. Basically I have the two original keys and a new third one off fleabay. The new one has the same code down the side of the key although the innards of the remote bit is slightly different - I haven't got the blade cut yet or the immob chip done yet.

My initial remote key is broken (the chip inside it is damaged).

Question number 1 - will this method work if the original remote key is broken?

Question number 2 - with the new key it doesn't matter that the blade and immob chip are different, right?

Question number 3 - so you take the original non-remote key and use that one in the ignition and turn it to on (i.e. lights on but not engine running). You used your original remote key to lock the door. The third key you just hold near the car. Now the pressing of the buttons (i.e. both step 3 and step 4 in the original process) - is this on the original remote or the new remote?

Have a feeling that basically the answer to question 1 is yes, 2 is it doesn't matter and 3 is the original remote - which is why it ain't working for me!!

It shouldn't matter if the blade is different because you are not using the new key in the door lock or the ignition, you are just holding it near the car and using the remote part of it. Likewise with the immobiliser part as you're not trying to use that new key in the ignition so it doesn't need to be able to deactivate the immobiliser. You will need to get those bits done to be able to use the key though.

I think the answer to the third question there is you should be pressing the buttons on the NEW remote, so it recognises the signals from that new remote and associates them with locking and unlocking the car.

We still haven't got our problem resolved and are looking at something like £300 or more for a new central convenience unit :(

Ok - right; well that just leaves the question 1 as what might be preventing this process from working. Anyone?

I have 56 plate Seat Leon FR. My Remote fob got dropped down the toilet. I dried it off but it just stopped working. I decided to buy a remote fob off Ebay for £12. It arrived the following day. I removed the key half part of the fob from my old key and stuck it on the new remote clip. It simply clicked off and then clicked on the new one. Now it was time to program the remote to my car. I read all the tutorials on this forum and not one of them worked. I was contemplating taking the car in to the stealers to sort out for me when I thought i would take a look at the car manual. Thank God I did. The manual contained all the info about programming new remotes. This method worked for me however you will need the spare key that came with the car or a second key.

1. Unlock the vehicle from the drivers side using the key without the remote.
2. Turn the ignition ON using the key without the remote
3. Lock the vehicle using the key with the remote and leave it in the lock
In a time of maximum 30 seconds the following operation must be carried out:
4. Press the lock button on the key with the remote
5. Press and hold the unlock button for 2 seconds
6. The doors will unlock and the key is now programmed

This worked for me and I hope it helps anybody else.
