Smoothing Bumpers (mk3 Ibiza)

Right then, I'm looking for prices to get my bump strips smoothed (front and rear).

Whislt it's in, I was thinking I may as well get a few other bits done such as

the detail lines around the fog lights. no need to be there. I was told that all they do is make rain drops fall into them, and then flick off towards the arches. To stop streaking lol

Line under lights. Was thinking of getting that smoothed. But then I thought it may be the join line for the rear quarter If not, let me know lol

Lower rear bumper. The plasticy thing, that has the cut out for the exhaust. is the rear bumper one whole thing or two bits? Could I smooth that line also?

Be a while yet. Just looking for quotes

So, what we think? And can the lower part of the rear bumper be smoothed?

Done the front swanage lines on mine when i had it, and done the rear aswel

so that's a "yes, the rear line can be done"

What about the vertical line under the rear lights? Am I right in thinking that that's the join for the rear quarter panel?

Pretty sure the rear bumper is all one piece, when I colour coded mine I couldn't see any way for the bottom section to come off. Im sure the Cupra is the same

Yes the rear bumper strip can be done, easy peasy. And yeh its one piece

Dont know about the line under the lights tho

if it's one piece, then why does the lower half feel like a different material? It certainly has a different texture about it

it is one piece dont know why the lower part has a texture style to it but it cant be split

It's like that textured anti chip stuff. The skirts are the same texture. It wont take much to rub down and make them smooth.

My front bumper has been all smoothed, not the inserts, just the swage lines and I think it looks nice.

I did the vertical lines under the rear lights on my mk2, same thing so yes it can be done,

Looking at do this in a few weeks my self...

How do u secure the bumpers then? as the fixing are behind the bump strips

Just use the top screws, side screws and the screws near the towing eye and one behind the other cap.

Thats more than enough.

been to a body shop today to get a few quotes.

The swanage lines he said are easy. As for the front bumpstrip, he said plastic welding would be a lot of work, and may cost a bit. He said filling it will more than likely crack in the future.

The rear bump strip, he said he could platic weld the strip that is currently there, and then blend over it to make it smooth. Said he could also smooth the lower rear bumper and side skirts easy enough...

£200 to fully smooth the front bumper nd around the same for the rear should be about right mat. Anymore than that and hes just being stupid

hopefully he'll throw in the smooth skirts in that price

I got a price this afternoon to of my Mate sprayer £300 all in..for front and back...And around the Intercooler pipes too so that about right...
