cheers Mike. hope to see you sometime this year!!

Small update...

Went to the local Audi dealer to pick up a new ignition coil, got home and car started misfiring when I parked up (lucky!!). Checked under the bonnet, loads of smoke and smell and was confronted with this...

Looks like the water damage finally took its toll on coil no. 4 :(

Fited the new one, car didnt start, so after much faffing around found the F14 fuse (coil) was blown

All seems well now.

that does look nasty. Must be a reason why its burnt itself like that, or could it have been the water making it short out?

yes it was being shorted by the water. I had a 'short to plus' fault code on it yesterday.

And yes i'll be there tonight :)

Was doing a few logging runs to monitor timing and misfires, pulled into a side road and car started to run like ****. Started up again, but the revs died straight away and stalled. Oh **** I thought.

Called the RAC who came in 15 mins (was doing some logging and forum research whilst waiting on my laptop with internet) No error codes, just pulling -12 timing when pushing the throttle.
We thought it was a fueling problem, couldnt find the fualt, so had to get towed home. was only 3 miles from home (which was lucky as I had left my towing eye at home that day so had to collect it!!
Engine eventually kept running but idling so rough, enough to drive in my car park at home though. Found a couple of errors when I got home:

This morning had a through look around the engine, checked if the PCV valve was ok, and if there were any pipes disconnected. Monitorored the fuel pressures all ok.

After much faffing again, I found this:

There is a small hose section and two jubilee clips either end of it missing??!! should be like the other side of the T piece. Took the T-piece out and conneted the other hose back onto the intake manifold and all was well..

Yes, must of come loose.. The intake manifold was taken off a few days ago.... hmmm

Maybe the jubilee clips were not put back on?? can only speculate.

I see. Oh well the main thing is that you found what the problem was, is this linked to the ignition coil failure where water was getting into the coils?

New trackday wheels.

Hi all,

Got my new trackdays wheels and tyres on today.

Picked up some Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 - 18x8 ET45's in matt black.
Tyre: Hankook RS2 Z212 235/40/18.

Purchased them for the weight saving and grip benefits.

Wider wheels and tyres for much better grip and contact with the road. The trackday tyres feature a stiffer sidewall and a much softer compound than road tyres.

Will only have these on for trackdays and other events. not bad looking, not my favourite wheels :)

As discussed on MSN, I love it mate. Those wheels in black really suit the car, more than they do on mine. You should leave them on all the time :)

Love it :)

PS - You should lose the TFSI badges for more saved weight and increased stealthiness ;)
