My Ibiza was in getting a service last thursday and I also had a set of front top mounts that I wanted fitted aswell as I was told at my MOT that the front ones were rather worn.

Below is a picture of the top mounts:

The garage I used went to fit them and they dont fit

I know I have a suspension kit fitted to the car, shocks and springs, but the top mounts on them came off the standard stuff and went on no problem. :headhurt:

Any advice would be really helpful.

Cheers

looks like the right kit,

Does make you wonder if the garage is being daft, what did they suggest? cos they would surely check the part codes on your parts.

Did they give you back every part you gave them or have they lost something and maybe having difficulty sourcing it themselves?

I second it rights, just fitted my last week and they look the same! Just the bearing you need to remove the nut on the shock what holds the plate to keep the spring compressed.

Everything on the picture is what I received in the kit. Because when I got it I double checked and made sure the bearing was there.

did they say why ?

They just said it wouldnt go on the shock, but having a sports shock shouldnt make a difference should it?? It is the right one for the car and the top mounts from the standard stuff was used when I had the lowered suspension kit fitted.

So you take the nut off them put the bearing on then fit the nut again??

top mounts are always a bit 'dodgy' come MOT time its just how they are, but that all looks about right for the kit as mentioned above.

Yep I know they always are but I havent changed the front ones since I owned the car. To find out if the have been done before I would have to look through the history I have. Every receipt/MOT/Bill and the receipt for the actual car.

So Im guessing you have pushed the top mount over the bearing bit?? Im refering to the first pic. Never thought of using Vagcat.

How are the Ap coilovers?? Ive been looking at them as an upgrade, possibly in the next few months.

yes thats right and then u put it into the strut tower and put your top cap and other nut on

on one side of the bearing there is little notchies going all the way round, that sits faceing down on the shaft and then the top mount sits on that
