no mate there are deffo no air leaks

right. i put this new MAF sensor on and its different ok in the sense that its not sounding quite like a machine gun but now its like a kangaroo. one minute its sputtering then its on full bost then its spluttering and popping & banging again. its all over the place! dont understand?

JJ you said something about having to set the MAF up to my car? what did you mean by this again?

no setting up of MAF to car.. you 100% sure the sensor element is correct one for ibiza. its last 3 digits should be 040 (the element inside, not the housing)

Thanks for the info on the ignition amp, I dont own one of those cars and just spotted it mentioned on another forum.

With a new MAF the ecu will need resetting? if the old one was faulty wont it have been giving bad data to the ecu?

right. the new MAF was definatly the wrong one. the sendor inside looked totally different to my original one.

iv cleaned up the lambda's with some WD40

iv cleaned up the original MAF and put it back on and its pulling alot better and isnt sounding anywhere near as bad as before but is still misfiring a lot.

do you think my MAF could just be dodgey and i need one that is bang on for my car?

just not quite sure what it could be?

also soldered the bypass wires to the resisters while i had my head under the bonnet as one of the wires only had one thread left onto the resistor!

mycar is doin the same m8 ive jus spent 120 on 4 bolt down coil packs as i thought they were liftin i have new plugs new maf and off 2 get vag com 2moro its drivin me nuts i cant even take my car for a proper drive as it comes on boost sounds like a machine gun lol, if i get any luck ill be sure 2 post it up as it seems a lot of people on here are havin the same kind of problem

I had this exact problem recently on my car, did coilpacks + plugs + MAF on my car and it turned out to be a dead Pre cat Lambda sensor and it was overfulling like F*** Causing missing on boost. Did'nt throw any codes for it strangely enough.

I reckon from this if you put the right MAF on there, reset the ecu, clean the plugs then run it and see how you go.

If it does the same then the maf is definately ok as its new, then you can take out the plugs and see manually what they look like ie if they are black then you have overfuelling. as air filter, maf etc are okay it probably would be the issue described above.

what do other people reckon?

jus been out in the car now reset the battery it went fine for a while but have had no luck in findin vag-com that i can use on my car usin windows vista? i have a de-cat and the lamba sensor that is after where the cat used 2 be is not plugged in will this cause this kind of problem as i thought it would of been mapped an they do not require it or does it still need 2 be there?

gonna see if swapping the maf again. when i put my old one back on it runs rough yeah but nowhere as near as the brand new one i tried.

so i tried running it without a MAF and it runs loads better but does still misfire quite a bit on boost.

i dont have the tools to take out the sensor itself but on the box tyhe part number reads

AMM19614
213719614010

so are the last three digits of this 010 when they should be 040?
