I've got a set of Eibach Pro kit to get fitted next week.. They lower it slightly less than the Sportline kit but with the amount of miles I cover they were the more suitable choice for me unfortunately! Still good though! :)

i've got KW v1 coilovers (lowered by 35mm, was 40mm but too many big speed bumps where i live) on mine with eibach anti-roll bars. getting big brake conversion soon. then final mod is exhaust systems with remap which removes the DPF.

the standard TDi FR suspension set-up is pretty crashy tbh. around edinburgh there are a lot of pot holes. the standard suspension was not very forgiving and would be unsettle mid corner.
After change my suspension it's miles better and i can really give it some welly in corners and it's absorbs the bumps so much better even though the car is lower.

Some guys on here have eibach lowering springs which they say are better than standard spring too.

Hey ChrisMansell - It cost me £1128 for the KW variant 1 coilovers kit and eibach anti-roll bars. it was £190 fitting, incl alignment. ABR's fitted for free when done at same time as suspension.

The only bad news for you is that KW has increased the price of it's coilover kits by about £150 in the last couple of weeks. I was lucky i got my order in before the price increase. Apparently due to the falling pound against the euro.

PS - i'm having a lot of fun with the new set-up. also braking and accleration are slightly improved due to less dive and squat.

next up are big brakes - about £1600 but might also get spacers to improve the stance of the car.

I'll have a pic on Wednesday when they're fitted.. If you do a search though, there should be loads of other pics on here though! :)

Check out David at Seresmotors in one of the sub forums on here, thats where I got mine from.

Is it really that much better?

I've just picked up my new FR and absolutely loving it.

The firm ride doesn't bother me too much but I think it deffintely needs a soften to improve the WAG appeal of the car. Plus any handling improvements is a bonus!

I'm happy to drop ~1k on improving the ride, especially if it lowers it a bit. But is the difference really noticable? Behind the wheel I may notice a difference but it matters that girlfriend in the passenger seat notices the softer ride too.

Also is it possible to retro fit the cupra suspension into the FR? I hear the cupra suspension is much better and surely straight forward to get hold of from seat and retro on the FR.

Especially with the optional 18" wheels. Just to add my two pennies worth, a few people have had miss fire issues with the FR due to the DPF when they've re-mapped which is the reason I have left well alone. The standard car is pretty quick anyway tbh, the mid-range is awesome and won't fail to make you smile. I still love taking her off to a country road and having a rip!!!!
