Hi JJ

I tried unplugging the maf and running the car without it. it idled **** but still did the same misfiring over 9/10psi!

bought a vagcom cable today off ebay and downloaded the free software off rosstech.

hopefully it will have enough features to tell me whats wrong...

make sure the MAF is a BOSCH one otherwise your wasting money on a cheap one.

take the filter back up in the engine bay mate, it will be maf friendly then less vibrations and move ment.
pretty sure the precat sensor was new when i bought the car 3 months ago, sure i saw a recipet for it in with the paper work.

abs is new hydraulic pump.

cylinder missfire i still think down to coil packs mate, as somthing is breaking down when the boost comes on hard after 9psi

i think you may have been right with the first guess mate. MAF sensor. nothing should be braking down as the coils are brand new. all have 1 years warrentee.

listen to what i think and tell me if its a possibility or if im talking ****.

MAF sensor is knackered and is reading a high signal telling the car its not bringing in much air so its only putting a small amount of fuel in. then as the car gots ovre that majic boost number, the air/fuel ratio becomes way too lean so its not igniting properly causing the missfire.???

sound likely?

A bad MAF tends to give a lean mixture sometimes picked up by the lambda, so spencer has a good point.

Also, after replacing the MAF personally I would disconnect the battery or use vagcom to reset the ecu so it can relearn the right figures, then clean everything you can ie throttle body, use fuel cleaner. That way everything should be spot on.

One thing, its worth taking the maf out and having a look at it, if the contacts are oilled up (oil from filter?) or carbonned up etc there is a chance you could clean them.

obviously might not work but if it does saves some cash.

as said from start change the MAF make sure its a BOSCHE one otherwise your wasting money!

then reset your ecu via vag com or disconnect the battery to clear fault codes then it will be fine.

and the joys of owning a cupra lol ecu light is your new best mate!

it not just you mate we all have our fair share of problems
