Well the time has come to fix the infamous faded yellow paint i have on my car.

iv got a really good quote of £600 for a full respray from a friend of a friend, so since im going to get it resprayed again iv been advised i might as well go for a different type of yellow (to be something different i guess).

so i was thinking lambo yellow (colour code 03390 on the yellow charts),
would that be a good idea?

if i AM going for something different,id like to keep it the same colour base i.e yellow. any decent yellows that can be found?something like a deep yellow,or pearl yellow or something..

help apreciated!!!

(pics will be posted once work has been done)

To be honest you dont need a different type of yellow. The only reason the ovni paint fades is the laquer isnt properly UV treated. A guy at work has had his resprayed with the same colour but now they used a water based paint with UV treatment and gaurenteed no fading for atleast 10 years.

I guess for that money its a "what u can see" respray?
If so I would go for the standard colour because:

1.It should help come selling time
2.Your under bonnet, door shuts behind carpet etc will be the old yellow :(
3.You shouldnt have a problem with fading again as your sprayer will hopefuly use good paint and laquer unlike seat!

Yeah you shouldn't have a an issue getting it down in Ovni, as your mate will get the paint mixed up himself and will use a decent clear coat! Ovni is still one of the best yellows about when it's in good nick.

il find out if it includes everything, but im assuming so as he says its a 'full respray' which should be FULLY done.

yeah i know about that, its just that since its going in for a respray anyway,i might as well try a different type of yellow if you get me.

lets say hypothetically i did go for a different colour, what would be the hypothetical reccomendations?hypothetically speaking of course.

I wouldn't worry about the DVLA, if you going for a yellow... what are they going to do other that issue you with another V5 with yellow on it. I would of thought the insurance company might want to up your premium a little cause in an accident it would not be a standard respray.

The wife had a new car that was a light gold colour but the V5 had silver on it cause the dealer called the colour 'champagne silver'.

The R25/R26 yellow is very nice - but would it look as good on a leon?

There's plenty more pics about! Well worth having a look at.

The one I posted was just one of the first ones I came across on DW.

for £600 I'd be really surprised if he is doing door shuts, under bonnet etc etc as its a full strip down of the car for all that. A LOT of man power needed.

Even though you're getting the whole outside done (at lthe least) I would still go for the same colour personally. Sounds like you're just changing it for changes sake, cos you can and not because you actually want to.

Also if thats £600 for a full (inside and out) job then you should get a cheaper deal if you stuck witht he same colour as there would be less work for the sprayer to do.
