First of all the new brakes are an increase from 288mm to 312mm. The calipers and carriers are from an Audi TT and they are pretty much a straight swap.
The calipers and carriers - complete with hoses and pads (all second hand) from www.theTTshop.co.uk for the grand some of £100. I then added some EBC Discs for £72.
The calipers arrived covered in brake dust from where an Audi TT has had it's brakes upgraded. So the start of this was to clean up the calipers and then paint them.
Finished painting.
This was done the other weekend. So this weekend I could make sure they were going to fit ok and install them.
First of all i needed to remove the old Caliper and disc.
The disc retaining screw was a little stuck but a few hits with the impact driver and it came free. Off came the old disc and on with the new one. The size difference is quite noticable!
New disc on the bottom old disc on the top.
The old caliper was still attached so if there were any problems with the new one I could just put the old setup back on.
So with the new disc and caliper in place.
I then test fitted the Wheel to make sure there were no clearance issues.
To say it is close is an understatement!
The difference in the caliper size is huge too!
