I've got an annoying knocking sound from the front end of my car. I get it going over bumpy road surfaces and speed bumps. I can yank the steering wheel side to side (while driving) and it will knock. I've had the car in at the stealers twice, getting seriously annoyed with it now. I've replaced both top mounts, as adviced. They made a slight difference but still get the knocking. I've since replaced the rear wishbone mount, as adviced because it had has split. This has made no difference what so ever. The anti roll bar links have been checked.

When i replaced the top mounts the knocking went away, then over the course of a day the knocking returned. I've checked everything tight and there's no play in the top mounts.

Please help as i'm running out of patience

I'm willing to try anything.

I've got a track rod end to replace, i split the bush.

I'll also try the anti roll bar bushes, seat or powerflex?

If you have a Cupra R like your profile states and its the OEM one it is 18mm ARB bushes you need.
When you replaced the top mounts and bearings where did you get these from?

I got GSF ones and suspect these are causing a knocking on my car like you describe

Another member has been told that GSF don't do LCR ones which make me think this is my problem

I got the top mounts and bearings from Seat, £60. It was me who told you in another thread, that GSF told me they don't do them for an LCR.

I've looked on the powerflex website and they list two sizes for the anti roll bar mounts, 21 and 23mm.

sorry to high jack the thread but thought it better than starting another

I also have a REALLY annoying knock
but mine only happens under decceleration (using engine to slow not under braking)
at around 20mph (or atleast thats when i can hear it most)
It sounds like the wheel is knocking against something
but no visable signs of contact anywhere

I have just fitted coilover recently and wondering if i could have damaged something??
driveshaft maybe??

I too have this very annoying knocking sound from the drivers side, on the cross-over from acceleration/deceleration! I have replaced the strut, ARB bushes, steering rack, top mounts. But still this sodding knocking sound!!! I'm wondering if it the engine mount now. I replaced a slack gear box side mount and subframe bushes with Audi TT types as well! Help!!!!!

i dont if this will be any help but - my knocking ended up to be loose wheel bolts (LOL AT ME) but to be fair it did only take me 12 hours to discover this so i aint a total berk!

also i get a loud "clunk" at times, usually when changing from moving back to forwards and vice versa and when i use the brakes whilst doing so but my understanding is that this is normal with the LCR brembo bad boy brakes,

hope that helps, if not good then luck bud

I have a bit of a metal clunk from my front end every so often, thought it was the pads but may look at my bushes looking at this thread. I had H&R ARB’s fitted a few years back and I wonder if they came with new bushes? I guess they must have due to the size difference?. Going to look at the front end at the weekend, but what choices are there for up rated mounts as ive noticed my suspension top mounts are sticking up in the bonnet again?

Ok may seem lazy as I've not read through every post, so not sure if it's been mentioned already:confused:. But I had this prob couple of yrs ago and it turned out to be a broken front anti-roll bar.

Anyone who has the knocking noise try oiling your door hinges and door strap. had the same thing a few months back and thats where it was coming from, its just flex in the car and the two separate metal parts are pressed hard together which causes the knocking/clicking when there is movement between them. only found this out after changing the arb bushes etc..
