TSI stands for Turbo Sport (I think) Injection, probably sounds better than TPI which would make more sense like TDI.

It is a single turbo bolted onto a 1.4 engine which imo produces an healthy amount of power for its size.

Ah thank you for the reply guys yea i am happy with the performance as before i drove a 1.4 fez mk3 / 1.4 nissan sunny and now this 1.4 tsi It very special I had it since 1 week ago and I got 500miles on the clock although I have been treating it very gently until now that is...but again thanks. I am looking into changing some bits and pieces to see how much I can push out of it full system exhaust manifold / Air filter etc. 125 is good but i would be happy with 200 if its achieveable.

200? no way lol. not even near.

max power will be fromm a remap and maybe an exhaust, but insurance costs will be higher.

I had a 1.4 TSI courtesy car, you had to give it some rev's but I was surprised how much fun it was.

Small turbo engines are the future I think.

Do you guys really get 40-50mpg out of yours?

In my 1.4tsi I've yet to ever get more that 35mpg. Even at a steady 70 on the motorway, the fuel readout hovers around the wrong side of 40 (unless I decellorating).

I've had mine a couple of months now, and done just over 1100 miles, so I was hoping the efficency would climb right up.. but not so far..

Afraid not (I made that mistake before - so did the stupid dealer)..

The 1.4tsi which is available in the golf gt has a supercharger and turbo charger (and in the A3, and the scirocco). But in the leon it has no supercharger, just the turbo.... Which to me sounds wierd (as you'd think that's what TSI stood for), but apparently not..

It's the same engine but without the supercharger. VW also do a golf, without the supercharger but it's 122bhp, the leon is 125 - the twincharged golf is 170bhp.

I'm half expecting that the next FR release will have the twincharged engine..

Driving some where!
Oh thanks for that as I was unsure. I wish the SEAT/VW would put out more info on this then! as I couldn't find much on their websites, unless I am not reading properly :banghead2

Yup, The dealer told me the same thing supercharged!? I was a bit sceptical about this especially when it was pulling out only 125 on the other hand the GOLF GT had a higher gain BHP so it must of been the charger supplying it. But yea as a TSi Owner I am very happy with the performance going from a 1.4 fez to a 1.4 sunny > this is very fun to drive. As the car is still new, there is hardly any tuning bits for it even forge has nothing well mostly for the golf version. I will be getting a remap first though.

I spoken to the tech guy that can remap my car he said there is no current codes for it to be remapped but what he can do is to dismantle the ECU and do it manually thats the only way or so he said but then again Custom Codes are having Tsi remaps soon. the remap said it can increase 20-30% increase (am not 100% on this but this is what i researched so far on) if i get mine done i will post what happened etc.
