WELL ......................... the ATP manifold is OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After ALOT of farting around I finally managed to loosen off the nuts, enough to get a spanner in and get them off. I ground down the small 1/4" drive 12mm socket and hammered it onto the nuts, gave enough grip to crack the seal.

First thing I noticed about the manifold once removed is that it is CRACKED!!!

What I think of an ATP manifold:

I am SO chuffed to get that pile of crap off my car. CR Turbos contacted me today to tell me my turbo is done and ready to ship back to me!

BUT with everything off my car I am SO, SO tempted just to say f**k it and order the Backdraft base kit!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I feel great for getting it off, I can relax now.

I've sat down and worked it out, if I bought the Backdraft kit and sold all my old stuff (rebuilt GT2X, tig-art mani, Milltek downpipe, etc.), I'd have about £2k to pay, use a credit card to purchase, transfer the balance to another card which gives me 0% interest on balance transfers for 9 months - so I have 9 months to pay it off with 0% interest.

Was it cracked btw, Rob? (Or can't you stand to look closely at it?)

Glad you got it off.

Capital One Platinum are doing 0% on purchases until Nov 09!!

So apply for that, whack the £2k on it, and you have what about 15months to pay it off!!!!

Avoid silly 3% balance transfer fees if you can.

Nice one Rob, I think you know what kit you should be installing on the car. The tigart mani & turbo will make an excellent base kit and surely good for at least £1000 to anyone. You won't need your injectors, tip, DP and cat which must be worth around £500. Plenty of people looking for kits like this, £1500 toward the backdraft kit with minimal stage 3 mapping costs. This is the way forward if it were me.

In all honesty I think I'd be crazy not to, as you say I'll have basically a fully rebuilt, modified GT2X, Tig-Art manifold, Milltek 3" DP + CAT, 386cc injectors - pretty much a bolt-on turbo kit in itself good for around the 290bhp mark. If ATP replace the manifold due to it cracking, I'll have a new manifold to sell too.

I've had smaller sub-300bhp turbos for along time, around 4 years now, time to kick it up a notch and make my car alot more exciting!?! ;)

do ATP still churn out these manifolds? if so have they been revised or do they still crack

and if they do fail all the time, surely ATP will be in trouble soon with a decrease in manifold orders....

my first one cracked, i got it repaired, then it cracked again, played hell with ATP and they swapped it for another one, im yet to take this newer one off, but i am this weekend so all will be revealed then, they did say though when they were on the phone they have "altered" the design of the manifold, although when my new one came through the post it was literally identicle
