Ok decided front suspension needs to come off due to the state of the sub frame. Sub frame, steering rack and, wishbones and front suspension struts are now all off and in process of cleaning up and painting where necessary>>>> see a couple of pics

spent ages with a wire brush on an angle grinder then gave all parts 2 heavy coats of hammerite smooth. Have decided to use the steering rack and pipes off the donor car as they are in near perfect condition.

oh yeah only thing I've been worrying about is the torque settings and sequence for the cylinder head bolts but picked up head gasket today and all the info is included. How cool is that? Will post that info on here when I do the biz

Will the boy be allowed to drive it again? Dont worry about the ticking valve as they are hydraulic it will just need cleaning and the correct oil (semi synthetic) to sort out. Bodywork will take some time, good luck. Bernie

Ah thanks Bernie, good opportunity to decarb everything while the heads off; wasn't sure what type of cam follower was in there. Have just about finished overhauling the front suspension and subframe, it all looks like new! Just got to get the sterring rack off the donor car and clean it up then I can start putting things back together. Have bought 25kg of shot blast grit for the engine block and gearbox casing, thats the next job.

Just looked at your photos, boy you have a lot off work to do, you must have a lot of time on your hands. I have restored a few Triumph Heralds and a couple of Jaguars in the past but they actully made me money. Not sure your project is economical though. Bernie

I know its not economical, but the car was just sitting there and i need a small runaround. I've spent about £350 and it should fly through the mot and since its only got 40k on the clock it should be good for a few years yet. I work full time but do bits at evenings and weekends.

£350 is worth it then. You would have to spend £700to 1000 to find a roadworthy Arosa. I guess you are like me and like a project car now and then. Good luck and hope to see a photo of the finished car. Bernie.

yeah I also made quite a bit selling bits off the donor car on ebay that I didn't need so in reality it hasn't cost me anything yet really

Crumbs ! I didnt realise how much of a project this was going to become :D looking very good and very enviable. I would love to do stuff like this to my car but, my knowledge is fairly limited and I dont have a garage. Whats next on the agenda then ??
