Just round the corner.
I only got one key with my Cupra, a face lift '52 plate. I went to the Donnington market, and spoke with a lock smith who said he could supply a standard key and programme it (would have to be done with the vehicle for £90.00 at most). Seat dealership wanted £175.00 inc vat.
Here is the chaps phone number 07879 443050, email [email protected]

The transponder info is in another thread. However as there is now so many on the subject, it's a little harder to find.
I'm sure it's still on the main spare key thread but I think that was in the Ibiza section.

2005, aren't all FR+'s facelifts?

dont really know... reason i asked was on some of the older cars like the a4 and passat which had facelifts the keys changed from 433 to 434, the later cars could use 433 but the previous ones where hit and miss if they could use a 434 key. there was talk about a code on the sticker in the service book which ment it could accept both types.

Mines was a 433 on the original key, and the flip is a 434 (53 Cupra 1.8T)

As far as I understand it, there is no real deciding factor.

Just track down posts that people have stated a freq, and p/n that works and look for one on ebay.

Can't help anymore than that I'm afraid.

1. take your old style key to the dealers and ask them you would like to order a flip style key for the car (just like i did).

2. they will look on the system for the flip key which is for your car and give you a quote ( i got quoted £160 ish plus what ever the programming was going to cost on top)

3.get the copy of the quote as this will have the key number and the frequency it will be on (mine was something like 1J0 some numbers and then it had the frequency num 433mhz)

4. go onto e-bay and look for that exact key number and frequency there are alot of dealers on there so you may need to shop around (mine was a 2 button flip key) make sure you buy a new unused one as that will make the process alot easy. get it cut from a local locksmith.( i was lucky enough as my mate done mine for free should not be more than £10 to £15 if that even)

5. now that you have purchased your new flip key time to program it. do a search on programming flip key on seatcupra.net and you will get the results. try the key to lock and unlock your car.

6. now your key is programmed to the car remember you will see the key sign light come up on the dash.

7. from you old key seperate the key and SLOWLY remove the transponder (the little green thingy) this can be a little messy. ( mine was so i had to put a little luke warm water on it to remove the transponder from the key) be very careful not to brake the transponder.

8. now you have the transponder from yopur old key time to make your flip key to work. seperate the top half from the bottom. at this stage you should have a flip programmed to the car and key cut.

9.when i brought my key it was a vw so don't worry thinking it won't work it will. on the back of the flip key you will have the emblem remove this with a screw driver or something else ( this can be a bugger as when i was removing mine i cut my finger) don't worry bout damaging the emblem they are cheap on e-bay i got one for £1.50. under the emblem you will see a phillps screw remove this very carefully and open the two sides, remember the flip key is on springs and the spring may drop out so be careful. if it does it is easy enough to put back ( mine fell out 2 and i just twisted the spring back in making sure the flip key is the right way otherwise the key will not flip out properly).

10. once you have the 2 parts seperated put the transponder from your old key into the new key ( there should be a slot where the transponder goes) make sure when you put the transponder in that it will not move around.once secure put the key back
