what does purged mean.

I didn't think this thread was doing no harm. Plus there are other not from south wales that chat in here. Its a bit like a general chat area for us with mk3's. We all help each other out and its like a family in here.

Purged means binned. I'm already going through this mountain, and deleting stuff.

As has been pointed out to me, we gave you a little breathing space, but you inevitably end up taking a mile. if you make your own rules up here, then it's a case of monkey see monkey do.

The new software will have better tools to make this kind of thing more manageable and in the long run keep the forums (ie the useful info) free from the clutter.

I dont see how we've broken any rules here, as theyre not clear, as i've pointed out, to include the forum, which you've kinda admitted by saying you'd just add another line in the rules.

The new software will have better tools to make this kind of thing more manageable and in the long run keep the forums (ie the useful info) free from the clutter.

Clutter? Surely this thread has stopped countless pointless threads on its own, because e.g. one of use has had the problem, or someone can sort it locally etc.. We could have also posted countless for sale threads for mods to approve.

Dont get me wrong, i'm not being an arse or casuing an argument, i just dont understand why this thread is such a problem, its always been a thorn in peoples side from when i started it, and i think if it wasnt for martyn early on using the thread it would have been binned a long time ago.

But as you say, if the new forums can help with a bit more chat then its all good.

It's just common sense, were proactive about classified posts it has a section that is moderated, for the safety of the site and hopefully for everyone who makes use of it.

Common sense dictates we have that section because that's where we want those posts to go. I've now clarified that fact.

It's become obvious that we need to spell it out to some people, because we didn't choose to put a line in saying that were moderating for sale threads, but by all means post it anywhere else in the forum and we won't give a toss.

Maybe it is our fault that this place exists, we should of stepped on it earlier, but things change, and they need to change because this thread is out of control and far too big to moderate.

Trouble is you and many others fail to see the bigger picture. SCN over time has become a big site with an equally large focus upon it. Given the fact we (as in the site owners) are ultimately responsible for the content and legally we are! It become very important for us to be on top of the content. Some of the posts in here have on occasion sailed a bit close to the wind.

That is the reason we don't like it, but we try to tolerate it as long as it stays off the radar. by disregarding the rules you put yourself on the radar.

yeah. If you remove the gaitor around the gear stick. And then the rubber. Then pull up on the lip inside this area. It will be a bit tight but will come up.

Which part of the ashtray you trying to remove. This is to remove the whole part.

end of an era lol

personally, while some will say this thread has got 'out of control and far too big to moderate.' i think it saved alot, helped all of us welsh guys and ALOT of non welsh members by being the first point of call before starting a new thread and kept clutter down to a minimum by not having us leaving messages for each other in random peoples threads.

fair enough though, just a shame thats all

Yeah its to remove the whole thing, I'm then going to try to work the innards of the tray to fit my scangauge in, so that i can then close the ashtray lid and hide it all away.

Cheers for the help, I'll take a look on monday.

Off to Poland tonight.
