Got my body back..........!

well unfortunately work has got in the way of proper fun again (note to self, get job that pays lots but has loads of free time.... perhaps credit card fraud???:p)

some progress though

new cooling pack install with revised mounts supporting lowered and angled coolant rad and repositioned IC.

and some more heatshielding to stop the exhaust setting fire to the nav's feet (!!)

Finally got all my brake parts back from the machinists (plug to K&K engineering in MK for the top quality machining work once again) , so she should be on wheels soon after the Bank Holiday weekend:funk:

Will you be running brake bias setting on it? front to rear bias? Bigger brakes on rear could make it unstable could it not unless bias is setup to take this into account some way?

excuse my ignorance, but why have such huge brakes at the rear of the car ?

because i am cheating!!! the regs have banned active differentials (ie the electronic adjustment of differential hydraulic pressure to modify in real time the friction characteristics of the cross axle clutch pack) that allowed us to get good traction and modify the cars yaw damping in response to handwheel position and lateral G, both on entry and exit to a corner.

HOWEVER, they dont say that you cannot run a mechanical diff, that just happens to have very aggressive negative torque ramps, and then use the rear brakes asymetrically to er, "adjust" the diff preload and hence torque biasing across that axle. But as a result you have a situation where you are effectively absorbing the excess tractive effort into the brake system for that axle, hence the large rear brakes!

you are so wise... like a miniature buddha... covered in hair.

Sometimes i just read things in awe of someones knowledge... this thread is one of them :D

thats a very good way of getting around your problem! good luck with the car :)

A bit like what McLaren did in 1998 when they used the rear brakes to help steer the cars but was banned as it was seen as 4 wheel steering. Did little to hamper them LOL

What the handling going to be like running RWD with the ibizas short wheel base?

looking at it so far i'd guess in technical terms : stick like sh*t to a blanket [B)]

max: that front framework is an awesome job - you running out of space yet - dont answer just get back out in the garage and get on with it[B)]

huge? they are small compared to the front - lol
