Been keeping an eye on this thread.. your point above makes me think that his custom forge cooler will be no better than the THS type 1. Simply because the specific 1.8t cooler that forge supply, is totally different to the one you had built.. and we all know that, that cooler was built to perform with the 1.8t

My thoughts exactly, of course i dont know the ins and outs of how the dimensions/spec were agreed between Myki and Forge. Just trying to get the facts at the min.
It may well be that Forge came up with the spec based on Myki's mods etc. And that it differs from their 'off the shelf' kit as maybe that kit caters for a wider range of mods/power ect.
My forge was based on the laguna set up i had on it at the time with the dimentions being almost identical. The ready made forge kit is thicker than mine which was why i was able to get it made wider rather than thick so it would fill the gap aswel. So the internal capacity of the ready made forge kit and mine are very similar possibly even closer that we think, its cos mines wide that it looks big but you got to remember its only 40mm thick

Also has everyone forgotten about the "Frontera" cooler mod? cheap as you like. get a cooler for £50, 3x 53mm 90 deg elbows and a 1m length of tube.
Now thats economy, but has anyone shown logs to prove its not false economy?

I just started fitting mine tonight. I have a boost gauge so will see what it does for the boost.
i havent had time to completely read the whole thread yet, im going out tonight so will have to read it tomorrow, but how can people say that there is STILL no logs yet??? i put up a sepperate thread saying THS intercooler logs!!! :S

Specific 1.8t intercooler kits!! Made specifically for the 1.8t!!?? Dont be stupid, theyre just made to fit in the space available! With cutting the least amount of material out as possible.. using the same core used for most of forge's stuff..

I was going to post the link to that yesterday but by the sounds of things people arnt going to stop going on unless they see side by side logs of THS vs etc etc on the same car with the same ambient temp.
i cant understand why people are saying 'still no logs' ?? i have done 3rd AND 4th gear logs!! (intake temps and requested vs actual boost!) admittedly it is still winter so the temps will be lower than summer but im affraid i cant do anything about that! if more logs are needed then i will do some! if any one in hertfordshire has the THS intercooler then i will happily do some logs with them on the next herts meet
because if you read your logs thread you done it in the wrong gear (3rd gear) 4th gear is a much better gear to log, if your intake temps stay down on a long 4th gear run at high RPM you know your onto a winner
also, was asking for different blocks on multiple runs - never happened
no proper logs to compare ie: blocks 115, 118 etc in 4th gear multiple runs would be nice to see
If there is anyone in the Reading area with VAG com i'd be happy to donate some beer money to get some log of my THS type 2 up..
