THS Intercooler fitted :)

Has nobody STILL been able to produce any logs from this cooler to end the useless ****-flopping that always goes on...

:roflmao:
no logs yet, no "real" proof yet, and people are still following and fitting?? bizarre ...

i never get fed up of reading "it pulls so much harder" or "i touched the inlet and it was stone cold" - makes me chuckle

on a serious note i really do hope now when someone comes up with logs they are good, alot of people are fitting these now, wouldnt want to see X amount of people change their cooler setups - the logs i have seen look ok, requested vs actual boost looks ok and the intake temps are good, saying that, it was only a 3rd gear run in the middle of winter, my old smic used to perform good in the winter :p

more logs please :)

and i do hope so for everyones sake... will be a good little package if logs confirm what everyone is saying

how you can be so adamant about it though i will never understand or try to :)

I dont understnad how it will be worse than the std smic? -

If the intake temps are lower, which they are, in every gear, how would this make the car slower is my point... From a reliability and a performance factor..

The turbos we are dealing with are realisticaly to small to worry about lag - the ko3 spools up if i sneeze.. in france..

And they produce a lot of heat due to their size.. the SMIC is far from efficient enough to deal with a remaped car, and the pipework far from flowing as well as it could with some 2.5" pipe..

The THS cooler quality is adequate enough for most of what we are using them for..

What evidence/theroy data have you got to say that it is going to inhibit/damage performance.. Correct logs will tell you exactly what happening.. The logs are only going to confirm its better!? But from what I have seen the Forge logs are massivly impressive so it hasnt got a lot of competition when you look at the the costs etc..

and i dont understand when i have once said this??

i think we can pretty much state FACT that this cooler will/is better than smic...
and like you have said, cooler/denser air = bigger bang

BUT...... for the SAME MONEY is their another "diy" cooler that does the job better than the THS?? - hence why we want logs, to comepare

Sheesh

Does it really matter anyway, i mean really?! What does it really matter if people fit the THS (or any other non popular cooler). People who fit these coolers say the car feels better, end of. Wether it is actually better than a popular cooler in controlled environment is pretty much irrelivent. You pay your money, you feel the cars better, thats it.

This really is getting pathetic now, you don't find people bitching about eachothers induction kits, speakers, amps, suspension etc. I think the only reason that there is such a stigma surrounding intercoolers is because of the massive price difference in reputable coolers and DIY coolers. You guys who pay through the nose for brand names choose to do so, so i really dont think theres any need to keep on about it as i dont think anyones actually fitted a DIY setup and come on here shouting about how its better than every other cooler.

If we all waited for absolute proof of a products effectiveness before we purchased/fitted it we'd never get anywhere in the real world.

Im all for the discussion of whats better, worse, etc..!! Just trying to ge the facts on the table! As you are to!

What else is on offer,

The Laguna FMIC.. A glorified radiator core?
Its the only cheap alternative i can think of!

Im kind of an exception to that beaker cos ive got a Forge FMIC but its a custon jobby not an off the shelf kit. Mine cost maybe £100 more that the THS. People buying the THS are doing so to save money as its far cheaper than the Forge. My point is that for the sake of an extra £100 which is still half the price of the ready made Forge kit you could have a top quality cooler which is built specifically to work perfect

I'm sure that when someone who has a DIY cooler fitted and feels like doing some logs they'll do so and post them up. I dont quite get where the urgency is coming from, its not as if theres an army of people waiting for absolute proof before rushing out and buying DIY coolers as most of the people in this thread already have an aftermarket cooler of some sort.

Seems to me that the only army waiting on THS logs are just waiting for some proof that its not quite as good as some others and are just itching to say 'i told you so'.

If Forge made your kit more public and an 'off the shelf' kit im sure many people would opt for that over a THS for the sake of £100. But as it is officailly the only kit Forge offer is £700+ or something.

Pressure Loss for a start....

Any FMIC will cause a pressure loss because your creating a space between the turbo and the throttle body thats larger than the origional!!!

Were discussing the issues and facts!!! Not arguing.. no-ones getting wound up or annoyed calm down!!?

You might learn sometihing if you read this forum.. I think its certainly a good read fromteh start??!

Why not supply details of what parts your set up consists of from Forge and maybe a few pics of how its put together which could even be made a 'sticky'. Then maybe we'll finally have a definative answer for a cheaper, reliable, proven set up.

custom forge setup
laguna setup
stage 1 ths setup
stage 2 ths setup
custom pro alloy setup

erm....... thats all i can think of "custom" wise, unless you wanna count my own AM setup as "custom" as they dont exist anymore :p  or measure up/replicated the "off the shelf" setups, but that would just be cheating :)

The forge and the Pro alloy are both pricey options.. THS 1 and 2 both cheap.. Type 2 a little more involed to fit! - But still waiting on logs..

I managed to do my Type 2 for around 400 quid all in.. including the Map fitting, alloy piping, hose clips, and silicon..
