Following on from earlier thread about LCR handling and coilover set ups

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=159271

What are peoples thoughts on what I have descrided my needs for a set up and these two systems?ie car still needs to be an everyday car but be able to be set up for track use

BILSTEIN / B16 'PSS9' COILOVER SUSPENSION KITS
http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/product_info.mhtml?id=393168

KW / VARIANT 3 COILOVERS
http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pa...s&car=seatleon&manufacturer=kw&sub_category=1

I have heard that Bilsteins can be very hard, this I have picked up from somewhere but have no proof of this. I know that there is a LCR running V3's (Nicks old one)
What do you think of them for an everyday set up??

These are both as I see it at the top of their game, AFAIK there are no better set ups for the Leon.
Or is there a better system?

Cheers guys

KW's on the basis they dont rust like billys seem to.
stainless vs thin plated steel.

(I have run both. Pss9 aside from corrosion. wax the hell out of them on fitment and your ok.)

Yup the car is our family car just now but am gradually changing things so when it ceases being our family car it will be my fun car for road and track.

I have settled on the KWs, but was given the advice that the V3s are an overkill, unless you seriously track it. Which I don't. and I jsut now I would never adjust the compression once the kit was on teh car and set-up properly...

Cheers speedinsaxo, I'm planning on going for it on the track big time at some point so I don't want to regret my choice of suspension. As we all know the FWD is a PITA for handling, hopefully this way I can get the handling as good as possible and maybe show some 4WD or pocket rocket cars a pair of clean wheels.
All in all it sounds like the KWV3's win the day, the price is cheaper than the Bilsteins and should be a better set up to cover road and track situations

I had this massive debate not so long ago, about the V1.V2 or V3's

I went for the V1's, the fit and forget option - Even from Bill the general consensus was that unless you "really" know what you are doing, then get the V1's

depends on your time line really, but if it will be a few years untill the car is going to be dedicated for track use, I would choose the V1's now

agreed. if its a road car as you wont likely adjust damping and if you did, would you know which was right/wrong way to adjust?

V3 on mine and I've had professional setup on the car to assist its setup.
for road car V1 plenty or V2's max... hard-soft in one adjustment is plenty

Just looking into getting the V2's but i am not planning on tacking the car onto a track so would you say it was worth saving money and going for the V1's?

Sorry for the thread highjack! :(

Don't worry about the hiijak, the decision has been made V3's all the way
It depends what you want out of your set up. If you want it just to set at a height then leave or perhaps change the V1's is the better for you. I'd buy a rear ARB aswell (unless its just missed off your list of mods)
Either that or just get a good spring and shock combo
If I didn't plan to track car I'd go for springs and shocks

Cheers mate, where can i get good ARB from and what sort of price am i looking at?

From reading previous threads it sounds as though the coilover kit is better and if you can afford it then go for it! I want the car to sit better on the LCR wheels (as looks slightly jacked up atm) and also improve the handling of the car.

Remember there is a trade off between handling and look. You can't have the best handling and best looking car at the same time, this is where the coilovers reign supreme.
Personally I would get the coilovers if you want both and you have the money.
As for a rear ARB, eibach would be your cheapest one, try searching in the sponsers sections for this piece.

If your going to get the suspension done anyway I would change the front suspension rear bush, the ARB (front and rear) and the turret top mounts (OEM one).
This additional work won't add much time onto your fitting as the have to remove these things to fit suspension anyway. I see you don't have the dog bone mount changed either, get that done at same time aswell and you will have a very good handling car that doesn't need anything else done to get it read for the track:)
Oh thats right your not going on the track, yeh right;)

i could be tempted once its all finished! :p

What would the car be like in normal road driving conditions with this set up though, i dont want the ride to be to harsh but obviously want the handling to improve!
