Hi,

Am new here, have an Ibiza mk3 cupra, with a strange issue. Have just complete a 40k service and have replaced all the Vac lines with 2mm hose, also installed a boost gauge. All is working fine but when gunning the car when warm getting on for 5 to 5.5k RPM the engine is over reving when you change gear by about .5 to 1k as if the trottle is stuck for a sec. the boost is ok can see it from the gauge and all the lines are connected and ok. The car is standard as such, not chipped.

I have pulled the plugs out that i fitted in the service (bosch super 4's) and put back the old ones to test this morning, and the car behaved the same. But only does so when fully warmed up. Have read through the forums for a couple of days and cant see anything on this...

Also the bosch plugs i got from GSF have a 0.26 Gap, too small I think from what I have read here.

Any help would be great...

Also I did...

when just about to work this morning I stopped turned off the car / back on again and the issue stopped I think, only had a mile to go after that maybe a red herring....

Thinking maybe i need to reset throttle, I think I read this is done by disconnecting battery and leaving overnight or somethin...

All the hoses are good have check again and again. Think I will get some 4mm and re-do just to make sure.

I too have the same problem. Quite a few people on here do.

If you search on here for 'over revving' or similar, there's a quite a few threads regarding this issue.

I was told to check hoses for kinks/splits as said above, but everything was fine.

It was also mentioned to check the clutch pedal switch, but mine appeared to be fine.

Let me know if you sort it...

Re-aligning the throttle did nothing for me.

There is another way to realign it, do a search. But disconnecting the battery does the same thing so i beleive.

I'm thinking its something to with the clutch pedal sensor/switch.

Yep, the switch was a bit off centre, pushed it all the way home, tested it out sweet as!!! Thanks to the cupra crew!

Well that just saved me £80 with SEAT, we should add up in a year what we save in maint and when the cars go wrong, I bet its a flippin fortune...
