Had to change a main beam bulb last night & had a complete nightmare!

As I was unclipping the bulb & taking the bulb out I heard a "ping".
Discovered that the spring clip had some how come loose & dropped down the bottom of the headlamp!:censored:

I managed to retrieve the spring clip & spent the next hour trying to put the damn thing back in! It's not the easiest thing to get to & I now have bruises & cuts on my wrist. [:@]

By pure luck, I think I got it back in but I can't be sure.

Ok, rant over!!

I thought they were all really easy to fit and found the design of the headlights to be great and a joy to work on. I never swore once when changing the side lights, H1's and indicators.................

When I did my H1's the drivers side would not work for about 10mins.......then just started to work and has been fine since. :censored:

I changed dip bulbs to Philips when I got my Stylance. One clip was faulty and would not go back. Spent about an hour and gave up when I had a groove in my finger! Dealer changed clip. Side light bulbs were ok. Still got replacement main bulbs. Need a mirror to change those. I have never knew that changing bulbs could be such a pain..literally

I feel your pain man - last niight i tried to change the bloody side lights on my leon - what a nightmare! I just gave up. Spoke to several delears today who have said they are tricky to fit and sometimes removal of the headlights is needed. They have told me it'll be 30 to fit them - :-o ridiculous. Why is are some things on this car so hard to fit?

Seriously mate stick at it, when i changed mine they were really tough, but definately not worth forking out 30 quid for, i'll do it for 20 lol :p

Only bulb I had issues with was the indicators, once I'd sussed that you need to pull/turn horizontaly (held on with pliers) it popped out

You can see into the lights from the side, helps with the position of the springs etc, I use a small mirror to see in to them too, a massive help.

Saying that, I had a spring pop off in the old golf, bumper off & light out job[:@]

Hmm, I'm obviously lucky, swapped both dipped beams for Philip's Xtreme power the other night. It took me about 15 minutes without any issues. I've seen much worse ways of doing it.
Of course now I've just noted the reverse light isn't working GRRRR

I found my FR bulbs very easy to change, did them all when I got the car. Took me about 10 mins to change them all!

A world apart from my old Focus TDCi.. That was an absolute nightmare, ended up with cuts and bruises everywhere and it took me ages!

I've changed all mine as well. pretty straight forward I thought! main and dipped are the same as every other main and dipped i've changed

the only struggle I had was the sidelights before I realised you have to 'pinch' the bulb holder to release it,

but ye, I could change all of them in less than 5 minutes so I don't see what the hoo-har is about. .

feel your pain (quite literally), cut my hands to shreds and bruised them trying to do the indicators, rest was ok but had a similar problem with H1 clips on my past car!! There's nothing more frustrating than a 2min job taking 2hrs!
