AUX in on TDi

Hi All

New to the forum here. I'm getting a Seat Ibiza TDi DAB Special Edition (can't wait). Anyway I've been told that there is no AUX in on it. Because of this I will be getting an iPod connector FOC. This is all cool, but I still would like an AUX for my girlfriends MP3 player.

On the Blaupunkt website it does say it has AUX in. I was wondering a couple of things. Firstly where is the AUX in? Is it on the front of the stero or the back? And secondly, if it's on the back, would you be able to wire it up to the AUX in connection by the handbrake?

My car doesn't have the aux in, but a colleagues does have. Hers is just a small flap that lifts by the handbrake with the plug underneath. It must be wired in directly to the back of the stereo I would imagine.

From what you are describing, "And secondly, if it's on the back, would you be able to wire it up to the AUX in connection by the handbrake?" that is the auxillary connection for the stereo. You just get a cable with 3.5mm headphone jack on each end and whack one end in the aux socket and the other in the mp3 player. et voila.........

I really want to retro fit this mod, I reckon its a pretty good thing to have and that square with nowt in is driving me mad.

The DAB does have a AUX in socket but it is @ the back of the stereo not down by the handbrake like the FS/Sports have!

It's a Blaupunkt Nashville DAB35. If the AUX in is on the back, how hard would it be to get a cable running to the plug underneath the small flap that lifts by the handbrake? I guess this wuld mean taking of the inside panels extra. Has anyone attempted to do anything like this? I.e. take out the panels while painting them etc?

I have the DAB Edition too, I started off using the AUX connector (the connector down by the handbrake, connects to the Blaupunkt stereo) with my iPod which was fine to start with. I then progressed to the proper Blaupunkt iPod connector, which means my iPod stays in the glovebox where the iPod connector is and gets charged and displays the track info too. When you have the proper iPod connector, you lose the ability to use the AUX socket as it gets used on the back of the head unit, by the iPod connector.
I think the AUX connector is unique in the DAB, on other variants of the Ibiza (FR & Cupra) you get the traction control button in the same place.

Cupras have 2 buttons at the handbrake - AUX and ESP. one at each side.

^^ what I find really annoying is that my old Cupra had the AUX and ESP buttons each side of the handbrake. But my current one (which is older) just has the one, BUT it is on the other side of the handbrake to where the one in my old Cupra was.

So if I press where I'm used to pressing, there's nothing there...

i thought from what i read on the internet that the ipod connector and the aux in were seperate, so you could have both if you wanted. I take it this is not the case?

The original dab came with the original aux connector in the back of the head unit & an ipod connector in the glovebox, after a few months they revised the dab & took out the ipod connecter & replaced it with a aux in socket down by the hand brake.

What model do u have?

Well the AUX doesn't do anything now (I've tried!) so I guess that is the case!

hey chopper. looking through the manual of the nasville dab35 it shows 2 aux in connectors. looking i've found this on the net http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/blaupunkt-input-p-2191.html. did you see a spare slot on the back of yours to fit this into? i'm going to tray and have a look sometime at mine. thanks rick

I don't know - I didn't fit the iPod adaptor, so didn't take the head unit out! If you've got the removal pins, surely it's not too difficult to see whats on the back of yours ?

OK now I'm confused.

I have just taken delivery of a new Ibiza 1.9TDi Sport and took advantage of the Seat offer of a free DAB radio.

So, why am I confused? Well, the DAB fitted is a Blaupunkt Nashville DAB35 - very nice, great sound.
However, there is no AUX in by the handbrake like the car I road tested, and no iPod or MP3 connection in the glovebox.
Was I supposed to be offerd an AUX in or iPod connection? Should this have benn connected when the DAB radio was installed?

1 other point, although I have sports seats, they are not as per the brochure - more a quilted effect in black with red stitching. Not offensive, just not what I expected.

I know specs are subject to change, I'm just a little suprised that I have no iPod/MP3 connection.

Only your dealer can answer that I think - mine was the same in all but name, as it was a 'DAB' Special Edition, but it does sound the same as your's (upholstery etc), but I had the AUX socket down near the handbrake. I added the iPod connecter myself after I'd had the car a few weeks, it was not available from SEAT (got it from eBay for about £40-50).
If the car you road tested isn't the same as the one you received then I think I'd have taken that up with the dealer when I picked it up . . . . .

this basically happened to me. it's another run of the dab special edition. there is no aux in on the radio as standard, the dealer put an ipod connection in for me as i really wanted the aux in and at first they said there was one for the dab edition. when it came there was no aux in, but it had the formula sport trim. which means the quilted effect sports seats, honey combgrill on the front and also white dials. i would see if the dealer will fit an aux/ipod connection in FOC for you as you weren't made aware of the lack of it...

how you finding it btw? i've had mine since jan 26th and loving it!

I got mine in March last year, dealer ex-demo, three months old with 3k miles on the clock. It's just had it's first service and I'm quite liking it. I'm taking it to the Nurburgring (again) in May, so I'm getting it chipped soon aswell as adding a front strut brace, want to leave it looking as standard as possible.
