first of all i would like to say hi to every one as i am new to this sight.
At the moment i have a pug 206 gti, but i am lookin to get a Mk1 Leon FR tdi 150 i have foud 1 with a local dealer and i have nerly done the deal.
Im just wondering if any one could give me any info on these cars as in what do they drive like? how do they handle ? are there many common problems with them? and this will be my first diesel car what do you think to the power of them?
Before i got the 206 i had a Seat ibiza cupr 51 plate i loved the car 2 bits the best car i have eva had but i rapped it around a tree when i hit a flood i was totally gutted. Afta having that car the 206 is a load of crap to be honest so i definetly wana go bk to Seat

thanks for lookin at my thread and lookin forward to chatting to you all

cheers Math

hi mate and welcome to the site. iv got a fr+ 150bhp mk1. iv had it since april and i love getting in it everyday. i personally find the standard power enough even though i am going to revo. the car handles well but you will have to have your wits about you. common problems well i havent had any yet but from what other members have said leaking door sills is prob a common one. if you do a search you will locate the concerns people had. i would defo say get one you wont regret it. the novelty has not worn off for me and to be honest i dont think it will. hope this helps

Even with my remap - I manage to get over 550 miles out of a tank, and that is with a very heavy right foot.

cheers for the feedback mate, eventually i will probs end up getting a remap to but i hear a lot of ppl are having problems with their clutches afterwards so wud kinda put me off coz i wud say its expensive to have the clutch done. The reason i wud want the remap is to try and keep up with me mates they have got cars like Astra coupe GSI and a Clio 172 Cup. but it would be in a few months i would look at the remap i wud have maby been tempted 2 go 4 the cupra 225 if i dident have to travel to work so far everyday need 2 think about the fuel econamy but i do have a pretty heavy right foot.

Yeah i agree, i think that statements aload of ****.

If im wrong (which i dont think i am then im sorry)

Im on target for a 540 mile tank taking it eeaaasy and driving 80 miles a day to work on good A roads and a 8 mile run on the A1.

Im going for the reset and MAF clean too. See if this could be true :)

BTW: Het the LEON mate. My Cupra TDI (same car different name) is the dogs as standard. If you drive a fair way every day you'll love it. So easy to cruise in and the torque will make you smile whaen some d1ckhead sits on ur ass. Sooty discharge ;)

if someone can provide me a way of proving the miles per tank / mpg please feel free.

My driving is mainly motorway or main A roads !

But there is also a good mix of fast B road blasting to be had !

The remap really has greatly improved the fuel economy...

Leon FR TDI 150 (std)

BHP 147
Torque 320Nm
0-60 8.6s
TS 134MPH
Weight 1333Kg

Leon FR TDI 150 (avg basic remap)

BHP 185
Torque 395Nm
0-60 ? (0-60 time pointless in a TDI)
TS ?
Weight 1333Kg

Clio 172 (pre 2003)

BHP 172
T 200Nm
0-60 7.2
TS 138
Weight 1035Kg

Clio 172 (post 2003)

BHP 182
T 200Nm
0-60 7.1
TS 139
Weight 1090Kg

Cup & Trophy models are slightly lighter and quicker (0-60 6.9s)

Astra GSI (1998-2004)

BHP 197
T 250Nm
0-60 7.0
TS 150
Weight 1272Kg

--------------

Too many factors to say yay or nay. Depends on road/track type, driver, if the French car hasn't broken down ;)

I'd like to think a mapped 150 FR would **** all over the Clio because of its ability to transfer the power (almost double torque of the Clito's). The Clito is a nimble car but ur still gonna look like a hairdresser driving one!

Not sure about Astra GSI though, I think not tbh - but I could be completely wrong. All I can say is Astra drivers are mostly parked in Mc Dee's car parks driven by overweight men......so given the car would weigh double the Leon it should stuff that too! :D

End.
