I've come to the conlusion I love my car so much I would be much happier if it had a Thatcham Alarm on it.

Just wanted to get opinions as to what to choose

-Clifford
-TOAD
-Cobra
-Gemini

Any bad experinces with any of them? I had a Clifford with the intellistart on my now very old Pug. I think it cost me about £500 fitted about 7 yrs ago, but with a Clifford is it just as good as a TOAD? but without the Clifford name?

Has it reduced anyones insurance premium?

Can't believe its taken me long to even think about a really loud annoying alarm to help me sleep better.

your car already has an alarm and immobilser, why not just get a tracker better than an alarm, cos the thieves will just break into your house for your keys

If it has the fold out key it should be a cat 1. If you still want an aftermarket alarm i would go for a Toad as they are sooooo reliable. Also a sigma (part of the Toad group), they work well to. If you really want a Clifford get it installed by an engineer that has been fitting them for a good while, because it they are fitted by the likes of GAP security then it will be ultra unreliable!!! I know as I have re-installed a few of their installs.

As far as i know the Leon FR TDI and CUPRA's have CAT1 alarms fitted (i might be wrong, but i was told this by the dealer) so look for a Blackjax instead, then it won't matter if someone does break in and get your keys cause the car will only go far enough up the road to give you a chance to get away, or put the theif off coming back.
Just found a site selling them:

thought that Clifford and Toad are the same company now!?!? I had a Clifford on my old car and was a little temperamental on times but rather that then not work at all.

There is a guy on ebay (also has a shop website) that is selling/installing TOAD AI606 system for £209 inc VAT & fitting.

Says it comes with all the stamped certificates and he is a approved installer.

Seems like a good price as other lpaces are sellnig the TOAD AI606 for £299 not inc fitting.

@daveyonthemove - That blackjax is a addon for a G5 clifford. I would need a clifford G5 first then a additional £99.99 for blackjax.

If the FR come with a Cat1 alarm as standard (and it does its job well) I think I would be better off with a tracker. Not sure who to ask about the FR coming with a cat1 though as my local SEAT garage told me that moving the headlight range switch whilst driving wont make them move.......he said I have to be stationary for them to move

I don't have a fold out key.

Mine is the one that kinda looks like this:-

I agree with the statement above for the Toad AI606, i have had 2 fitted in my last 2 Ibiza cupra's and they did not let me down. Also they are cat 1 and you get the certificate to fax to insurers.

You can pay extra for window enclosure but it is a pucker alarm with all the bits / sensors you need, and at a good price. £209 seems a cracking price.

Go for it:whistle:

No the blackjax can be fitted standalone. I know it says on some sites it a G5 add on but it can be used on it's own. Works with most CL/alarm systems.
