Hello all,

First, I'd like to say great forum, so good I just joined as I got a Toledo last week and am well chuffed with it.

However, a couple of points I've noticed:

1: Damp drivers footwell & car steams up. I've seen a lot of posts on this so think I can fix it, and stop the car "smelling like wet dog" according to my daughter.

2: I've noticed a knocking from the front over bumps. The car passed it's MOT just before I bought it, so I don't think it's anything serious, but it's an irritation.
I had an Audi Coupe many (too many) years ago that did the same thing. It turned out to be the top bearings on the struts were worn.

Has anyone experienced this, and if so, what was the fix?

Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

Check cabin pollen filter for 1. Also door seals if you get a build up of water between the door and rubber seal

Thanks guys.

Yes, I do have a fair build up of water on the sills of both front doors. I cleared a load of gunk out at the drain holes on the drivers side at the outer seal, but its still there.

I think that points to the door seals.

For the anti-roll bar bushes, would it pass an MOT with those worn, as it just passed before I picked the car up.

Thanks for the feedback so far.

Neil.

do a search on the forum as there is a useful thread with instructions for the door seals. Don't recommend silicon as its messy. Get the sealing cord - black rubbery stuff as it works better and is less messy. Also doesn't stink like silicon

excessive play on the arb drop links caused MOT failure on my octavia vrs.so i'd hazard a guess at maybe a failure if picked up.the drop link is an easy diy fitment and at 22 -25 quid a side worth doing before hand anyway ;)

Thanks for the input. I just got 5m of sealing cord from my local dealer, they split open a full drum of 10m and sold me 1/2. What nice people, most dealers I know would sell you the whole lot.

All I need now is a dry day and a couple of hours to do it. I'll look at the suspension as well though...

Thanks for the replies so far.

That was decent of the dealer. suppose they can always use the rest in the body shop as I believe that is its main purpose
