Fr's got heated mirrors?

Have they got these?, as shoved on the rear de-fogger and nothing happened to the mist on the mirrors?:confused:

I have the same problem. Some people told me that it will only work below the 4 degrees celcius, but that is also not true. (tried it this morning when it was minus 1,5 degrees celcius, and again no warm mirrors) [:@]

Next Thuesday I will let the dealer have a look during the 15000km service. Hopefully they can solve this mistery. Fr's should standard have heated mirrors (at least in the Netherlands)

having had them and now not get them i do miss them sometimes, though i must say the mirrors do stay pretty clear without and they do gradually clear on there own accord anyhow, though that's not the point of this thread, if your spec is supposed to have them fitted and they're not then it needs sorting PDQ.

Hi guys,

though I've been inclined to answer lots of your questions, I find it annoying, that hardly anyone is posting their specs ... i.e. modelyear, engine, additional equipment.
As regular posters might have learned, fitting of optionals often depends on the MY as well as on the supplementary equipment.

Since MY2007 the power-mirrors are standard equipped with heating for Stylance as well as FR ... while up to MY2006 you had to order the optional "winter-kit" incl. heated wiper nozzels and headlight washers.

(I'm not 100% sure, if the UK-options are/were exactly the same as the continental setups, but still I'm pretty confident that MY options differ in the UK as well.)

greets ... Klaus

btw
Maybe all of you posters can help finding proper anwers if you start mentioning the specs of your car in the signature.

..
Just noticed this morning that mine does not have heated mirrors either.
One thing i did see was that even the mirror switch that i use to fold them in etc etc does not have the heated sign on it like my other cars have had.

(By the way, does my signature pass the test?)

Thanks

Chris

You can deduce my model and year by date of joining and the text to the left ;).

Can't someone pull one of these mirrors apart and say whether they got the heating element in it if they think they should have it. What I find about the board these days and don't take it wrong is that in the early days us Altea owners that bought them from new, knew exactly what was fitted since we speced it and they were factory built to order. Now people buy second hand ones and then question on here what should be fitted... well they wouldn't have left anything off would they ? ;).... well without the original owner knowing and for people who buy them new pre-assembled and ready to roll from the garage why can't the garage tell you ;).

It has been proven on the boards over the years that what the manual says about only being fitted on certain models is true. Irish models had a lot less fitted / different spec than UK ones for starters. So if you buy a second hand car you can't really complain about stuff not being fitted and you can't really complain about tyre wear and mis alignment if the previous owner rammed it over speed humps. That's my view.

[MY2004, TDI 2.0 DSG with sun roof, sexy silver but less the MP3 version of the headend, that was a year latter ;)... build quality superb no rattles, one careful owner etc etc]

Well today I've checked my car with VAGCOM and came to the conclusion that the computer inside my car thinks that the heated mirrors are not installed. This is something my dealer has to explain because I thought I've bought a MY07 car, so the mirrors should be heated !

For me it is not a very great issue if they are not heated, but if I buy a brand new car, pay a lot of hard earned money for it, than I expect, no I demand that the options mentioned in the brochure (I'm not sure if this is a correct english word :think:) are fitted to the car !

(I've already found on a german website a guide how to retrofit heated mirrors. With a lot of work and approx. 105euro's the car can be retrofitted with the heated mirrors [B)])

Do you have an FR or at least Stylance? ... Even a "Reference Comfort" should have 'em heated but then not electr. folding.
Here's an excerpt from the MY07-catalogue with the mirror-options:

I found on a dutch seat forum that the FR has heated mirrors from MY07. The older models are supposed NOT to have them. I'm unsure if I have a MY06 or MY07 :confused: At this moment I still don't know how you can tell fur sure what MY the car is. Hopefully somebody can tell me where to look [B)]

Yes ! seatforum.de is for altea owners (who can read german) a very very good board to find information, especially DIY etc. No other board has some many altea related information :clap:

:-( i wish i could read German!

Especially the DIY (or EBA in german) contain a lot of pictures, and together with a translation program you can "decrypt" al lot of german I think :D

I've also found how to tell which MY the car is (also from the german forum:)), mine is def. MY06 !

Find your identication number:

VSS ZZZ 5P Z 5 R ******

VSS = SEAT
ZZZ = Füllzeichen ( I'm not sure what the english word for it is :think:)
5P = Modell ALTEA
Z = Füllzeichen
5 = Model Year (5=2005;4=2004;3=2003 ....)
R = Production facility
A Ingolstat
C CCM Taiphen
E Emden
H Hannover
M Puebla
P Mosel
S Salzgitter
U Uitenhage
W Wolfsburg
Z Zuffenhausen
B Brüssel
D Bratislava
G Graz
K Osnabrück
N Nekarsulm
R Martorell
T Sarajevo
V Portugal
Y Pamplona
9 Taro
****** = Serial Number

There is another very well-informed board, the french ALTEA-forum (not the typical board layout, but good advice & pictures)

... well, you're not asked to speak german there ... ;) ... :whistle:

Well, then, without the "winter-option", your MJ06 will have no heated mirrors. :(

The "Füllzeichen" means nothing else but "filler" (without meaning) ...
