There is another very well-informed board, the french ALTEA-forum (not the typical board layout, but good advice & pictures)
=> http://www.autotitre.com/forum/SEAT_ALTEA-25020p1632.htm
... well, you're not asked to speak german there ... ;) ...
So you already found out how to decrypt your ident number ...

Well, then, without the "winter-option", your MJ06 will have no heated mirrors. :(

The "Füllzeichen" means nothing else but "filler" (without meaning) ...

greets ... Klaus

Thanks for mentioning the other (french) board. Unfortunately I didn't pay very much attention on school during my french classes so my french is very, very poor  German, Englisch en Dutch are much easier for me.

As my car doesn't have the winter option, I recon I don't have the heated mirrors. This means that during the spring I have a few retrofit actions to do, first heated mirrors, than heated washer jets and ofcourse the WWA :D All made possible to the seatforum.de

Well today I've checked my car with VAGCOM and came to the conclusion that the computer inside my car thinks that the heated mirrors are not installed. This is something my dealer has to explain because I thought I've bought a MY07 car, so the mirrors should be heated !

For me it is not a very great issue if they are not heated, but if I buy a brand new car, pay a lot of hard earned money for it, than I expect, no I demand that the options mentioned in the brochure (I'm not sure if this is a correct english word ) are fitted to the car !

(I've already found on a german website a guide how to retrofit heated mirrors. With a lot of work and approx. 105euro's the car can be retrofitted with the heated mirrors [B)])

Hello Wizardtm,

where did you look at with VagCom and came to the conclusion that you don't have heated mirrors??

Hello Wizardtm,

my guess is, that Wizardtm quoted the setting of the
ECU #09 (e.g. 3C0-937-049 23Byte)
=> Byte 01 Bit 4 (Heated Side Mirrors installed)

and Bit 4 was apparently not activated.

Gruss vom Klaus :)

Hello Klaus:D:D

I see that you quite famous here in the UK forum (as well as in the german of course).

Concerning the heated mirrors, that was my guess too, but you get a wrong conclusion if you look there!
I have checked this on a car (AlteaXL) that had heated mirrors installed but that bit had a 0 value.

(In addition to that, those who have climatronic can check the relevant byte/bit in ECU#09 where you will see that the corresponding bit has 0 value which would mean that you dont have climatronic but in fact you do have it)

The proper way (or at least the way that I have checked it) is through the measuring blocks of ECU#09. Unfortunately, I dont remember which block it was, but if you browse them you 'll find it easily. Just be sure to have the engine RUNNING because otherwise the heated mirros won't be activated (I suppose that's a feature to save battery energy).
