Red Light on water temp

Right for the past week its been coming on
It beeps like your low fuel and constanly flashes
but if you turn the engine off and then back on again it stops.

I dont know what is causing it

The water level is not low

i was wondering if it can detect how much coolant ratio there is to water as i did top it up slightly with just water.

Other than that wondering if sensor is on its way out:shrug::think:

thermostat gary
search for it and you will find the solution, can just be a case of disconnecting it and cleaning the connections usually.
its located down beneath the original dump valve location

happens to me every morning its only done it since the weather change dramtically. If it beeps i simply turn off the engine and turn it over and its gone.

did anyone do a search on this? tut tut
VERY common. coolant expansion tank sensor. Topping up a bit may help, as may driving away straight away rather then leaving car ticking over.
Fix, is not a fix, the dealer will just replace the expansion tank and sensor for another that will go wrong next year.

Cleaning the sensor prongs can help.

One thing id say is that i would not ignore the sensor, if i get it i always turn off and restart after a short period, as there is the possibility the reading is infact correct!

Andy a search will only work if you search for the the right thing.
Ie you actually need to know what to type to explain the problem. otherwise its like serching for a needle in a hay stack but if y.ou read i have searched and found solutions now given a bit of guidence.

In my instant driving away does not solve it.
And replacing something that is "broke" is fixing a broblem, the same as replacing windscreen wipers when dead is fixing a problem.
This is just a case of wear and tear!!

As i work nights , whenI`d leave work in the morning the red light would come on & beep . i`d drive out of work turn off the engine and then it would be fine . At the time i did`nt know about cleaning the sensor prongs , but a new coolant bottle /sensor is only about £8-£10

Had this prob on mine - fixed under warranty just before it ran out.

Car says overheating first thing on a cold morning (the beeps), turned it on off a bit later at a junction say - gone.

Apparantly common problem (per main dealer) replaced coolent sensor on the coolant bottle. Its gone for the time being - till simmer 2009? - first time happened after two years from new.

I know a repeat of above the above, but it all helps....

Mine is doing the same thing in early mornings only i switch it on then off and gone!

Yeah same probelem this week in fact now its got a bit colder, Unclip the sensor of the coolant bottle check terminals for corrosion there shouldnt be any its a sealed connection i used a bit of WD40 worked a treat re mated the connection prob solved think its an inherant prob my father had it with his golf also obviously dont ignore always as you may actually have a prob with the coolant system but if you have good coolant levels all should be well usually!

I've had it for a while, normally more when im on a hill, Don't know why? Spoke to seat they quoted me around about £55 to fit new water bottle.

I decided to go for the cheap option - if the light comes on start driving, turn the engine off and on and the red light goes :)
