I got my car remapped around 20000 miles ago and its been slipping on/off now for around the last 5-6000miles

It would only do it though in 5th/6th gear below 3500 rpm. If i got caught below 3500rpm, i would either part throttle it until above 3500rpm or change down into 5th/4th.

I had the clutch fitted yesterday at JBS for £220 which i thought was a good price. I supplied clutch.

Standard flywheel is £550-£600. No idea how much a lightened flywheel is

JBS offer a swapping system on your flywheel if it is knackered! He'll replace it for another used but skimmed flywheel for around £150. He'll then send your flywheel to be skimmed and sell it onto the next customer and so on and on. Thought that was pretty good really seeing as a new 1 costs 4 times that amount! Luckily though mines was fine!

Another VAG based tuner quoted me £350 fitting and was adamant i needed a new flywheel at £550. He told me my flywheel would definitely be damaged and need replacing if the clutch was slipping! Just pays to shop around lol :D

I fitted a sachs paddle clutch with an uprated 430lbft pressure plate. No real difference in pedal feel either which was good!

No more slipping :funk: and allows me to progress a bit further with BT conversion:)

cheers for that mitchy!

as said tho, hopefully i wont need to change my clutch whilst i have the car! ;)

otherwise i will also be goin for a sachs performance one, as a friend of mine works there! ;)

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread but wasn't sure where to post this.

Went to the Pod yesterday for a RWYB, it was the Japshow weekend so rather busy but Saturday was open to all cars. Only managed 6 runs as it was so busy and the track got closed for an hour due to an oilspill.

Still, on my last run I got my best time (just as I was getting the hang of it ) and managed a 13.65 at 109.2 MPH.

Reckon there's another half second to be had if I can get a better launch and maybe get some faster gearchanges, the RWD and 4WD cars are getting mid 12's for a similar terminal speed. The new diff was great at putting the power down in 2nd gear but 1st was still a real handful. Reckon if I was planning to do this regularly would be worth investing in some spare front wheels with some sticky trackday rubber and a short shifter!

It was a pity that I didn't get to run against any interesting cars - the closest run I had was against a Scooby Forester STi which managed a 14.7, the other runs I had were walkovers :D

Lastly a quick hello to a chap called Paul, he was the only other SCN guy there, running 15.1's in a remapped beezer Tdi [B)]

not too bad m8! :)

but there is a lot to be improved on!

I would like to think on a perfect run in good conditions (no 20 mph head wind, like i had last time lol) you should be hitting low 13s!

what 60ft times were you getting?!

I did 2.2 when i did my 13.8

and I like to think a 2 dead may be possible in my car... (having an uprated clutch fitted next month so i will find out! :))

I would hazard a guess your 60ft times were 2.4s which shows you have a lot to practise! ;)

(let me have a go lol)

I'd guess mid 15's, and low 15's when it's remapped :)

Done a couple of runs in the LCR when it was standard, was getting 15.145, was Crail, cold and boot full of shite!
Bit disapointed, my Mk4 GT TDI 130 Golf with a map (174.8bhp) ran a 15.168 on the same strip, warmer and with crap cheapo 15's!

Not a bad guess :D, my best 60ft was 2.365 (but got a 13.8 ET) on my 13.65 ET got a 2.375 60ft.

Full breakdown of best run:
60ft 2.375s
330ft 6.136s
1/8th 9.09 at 85.6 mph
1000ft 11.52
1/4 13.65 at 109.2 mph

I was surprised that on my first run (2.8s 60ft ) I only got a 14.4 ET but my terminal speed was almost the same at 108.4

no offence m8 but the only strip i personally believe in is Santa Pod! reason being is because crail known as a downhill ski slope ;) in other words ppl seam to ALWAYS get faster times there than POD!

if u did a 2.2 dead then i would guess u should do a 13.4 (assuming you didn't miss a gear and changed gear as quick as possible AND you changed at the optimum rpm!)

like i said before, I think a 2 dead should just about be possible, and if you managed one you could maybe do a 13.1 or 13.2 either way a very low 13 sec 1/4!

None taken mate, but crail has its bad points to slow you down too,
but i don't fancy a 4 hour drive to get to the strip for a cheeky days darggin!

Crails got a crap start line and it goes up then down, also the track has a good bit of drag on it, surface isn't smooth.

I can normally get 2.1 60ft's on my better runs.. But like James says, a 2 dead is not impossible I wouldn't think...
Your terminal speed won't change a massive amount whether you get a **** start or not mate (within reason obviously).. But I would say a low 13 is easily possible. Considering a stage 1 can achieve a 14 dead and is nearly 100 brake down..
Practise makes perfect mate!

Yeah might be mate.. But once you've run one of you're best times in your car. You try taking a 10th or two off it mate.. It's not easy, trust me!!! ha
What power should yours be running now mate?

Nice one chap..:funk: Is it still the same spec as what it was last time I saw ya?
Yeah, don't think mine will run again to be honest.. Would of been nice to get 13's (and I reckon it's capable in the right conditions). But goes back soon, so think i'll try and make the clutch last till then.. lol
New car will certainly get a run up the strip though, that's for sure!!!;)

Sorry to change the subject a bit, but Ben, do you have any other mods on your Leon apart from the Revo Stg1? What tyres do you have do you muck about with pressures on the day?The reason i ask as those are verey respectable times!
I'm heading up to Crail(i know) on Sunday with a few of the Scottish Boys on here some MK2 Cupras and i want to make sure i get the best advantage!

yea same spec, except i changed my cold air feed to my modded airbox (i got rid of the bottle neck) and it made a noticeable improvement to mid range pull!

this is NOT the reason why I'm expecting to improve my 1/4 mile time, but every little helps. the main reason is I am hoping to get the perfect start!

but like i said before I'm not too bothered and may never go back to pod in my car! I'm only thinking abut it as I'm fitting an uprated clutch next month and it may be rude not to have another go at pod! ;)

Don't really bother with tyre pressures mate to be honest. Just check them regularly during normal raod use.
What you gain off the line by lowering pressures on front tyres, you lose in drag i've found.. But each to there own..
Best advice I can give you. Is just to remove any excess weight out of car. Empty boot, remove spare wheel etc. You can also take out back seats too (very easy), but it won't make masses of difference. 1/10 - 2/10ths maybe.
I've removed my back seats the last few times, just to try and squeeze into the 13's.. But still not having it... [:@] lol
Also, i've always run my car on super unleaded AND the best mod i've found that i've added (apart from the Revo map obviously), is the Conti Sports instead of the SHIIIIIIIIITTTEE P Zeros it came with.. Hardly ever get problems with traction in general driving.. :)
Let us know how you get on though mate.. Be interested to see what Owen LCR runs in his mapped Cupra.. [B)]
