Hi people,

I get a fair puff of blueish smoke out the exhaust when travelling at low speed i.e. in a traffic cue or crawling, not very often but noticable.

Is this any thing to worry about or is it just normal:shrug:

Its a 2.0TDI

Cheers
Tom

Hello mate,

Its 140PD but had mods done to it, its at 206BHP at the moment, I think its just where the engine is idleing it has a build of fumes and releases it a given point but just checking that its not a seal on the way out, it only seems happen in heavy traffic/cues.

Well not to scare you but most 2.0PD 140bhp TDI's have a serious issue, a defect on the head, resulting in puffs on whitish smoke at idle and then start having hot start-up issues too.
This is a well known problem and the manufacturer takes reponsability to fix the problem whitin a 7 year-span period by fitting a brand new engine. :)

But hopefully it'll be something not that serious.

I bet they won't touch one they know has been modified though.

What is this problem - do you know any more detail, some kind of cracking in the head ?

Mine occasionally gives off a puff of blueish smoke, when pulling away when the engine is cold, or smokes a fair bit in cues, especially when crawling up an incline with the clutch up and no throttle! Have been told that it has puffed out a bit of white smoke doing this before as well! Can also feel a slight judder from engine when idling, almost as if it was missfiring slightly :(
