not as easy as you think, you will need new bigger brakes, suspension, gearbox as things off the top of my head

its possible but buying the car may work out cheaper

you sure it's a 16v? the GTI cordoba was pre face lift skinny bumpers and run an 8v engine.
unless you mean the sx 16v?

It's a massive job as everything is uprated from the baby models to the GTI/Cupra, it'll be easier (well if you can find one) to buy one, than to source, Engine, Gearbox, Brakes, Suspension, Beams, etc etc

don't forget it's usually more expensive to insure a base model that's been upgraded to a higher spec than it is to insure an original car.

i.e, generally speaking (from what i've been told) it's cheaper to insure a GTi than it is to insure a 1.4 with everything upgraded to GTi spec.

Cordoba sx comes with 3 engines, a 1.6 8v, a 1.9 tdi and a 2.0 16v so if its the sx it may be the 2.0 16v!

Like they say cheaper to buy the car mate

hey, i have been offered the above engine, i own a 1999 1.4S, and was wondering if anybody has done this or if the transplant is actually possible!

thanks in advance!

yeah, straight forward mechanicals, but just not worth the bother when you can pick the cars up so cheap

unless you just think it's funny to do it to an estate car (and have a whole spare cordoba you're just bored with )
