Afternoon all,

After I had my car re-mapped the average MPG rating went from about 33/34 to the early 20's. When I start her up at first it reads about 18/19 and climbs upto about 22 after 5-10 mins of driving. Is the similar to everyone else, or are they dodgy readings?

Nope, sounds fine. You must of been driving like a nun to get 33mpg before unless you've switched the MPG readings? There are 2 on the trip computer. You have the average reader and the MPG reader for what your currently doing

nah, the 33 was when I was just driving it around normally. Which is what I do most of the time anyway. But since I had it re-mapped its reading 22mpg as the average, quite a hike but if its normal then im happy.

Have you been booting it since the remap? I know I did when I had mine.

On a good day i average 22-23 a bad day 17-19:cartman:

Naaah, I never boot my cars. I rarely drive them quick, unless im in the mood. Im one of those annoying drivers that poodles around at 35 in a 30 or 60 in a 50... I only have a quick car because I like having the power there when I need it.

The thing I love about my Cupra is how comfy and easy to drive it is... Air-con etc, everything you need but now it handles like a go-cart and is as nippy as a low spec scooby. Well chuffed.

^^ I'm the same Glassy -- But bad news for you is since I've had my car (I reset the average after filling up the tank) I get an average of about 33mpg and that is with maybe 15% driving fast, 40% motorway driving, 45% 60mph B road driving and short journeys.

Sitting on the motorway at 70mph on the motorway I can average 40mpg+

A lot of people may argue with the average readings after you have a remap anyway but I generally do get what it sayd I'll get to my tank.

I was getting on average 300 miles to a tank, combination of motorway/town.

Purely motorway trips i could get 45mpg+.

That doesn't sound right to me. What sort of driving do you do, all in town and in traffic? You weren't stuck in that tailback on the M25 earlier were you ;)

At about 100 miles after I fill up, the fuel gauge is usually around the 3/4 full mark and mines got the K03S etc etc. After half a tank I've normally covered about 160 odd miles.

Is it running right?

I've recently had it chipped, and ive also just fitted a Forge 007 and its running like a dream mate. I drive it about 3-4 miles each way twice a day + some little trips here and there. I drive it quite nicely to be honest, but since it been chipped I havent seen the average go over 23mpg.

Yeah, they're quite short trips. My journey each way is about 15 miles and mostly motorway. It's strange though, cos most peoples mpg goes up after a remap with regular driving, mine definitely did. I only used to get 200 miles to a tank on the K03 on standard mapping and that could drop down to 180 if I put my foot down. I get roughly 250-300 now.

Hey mate as dan cupra r stated no need to worry thats quite normal for a remapped cupra!Mine is achieving same mpg as yours and doing exactly the same amount of driving a day! I travel through town everyday and do about 4 miles to work and 4 miles back with the odd journey in around the area i live! With my town driving i achieve around 22 mpg with runs to work, remapped cupras dont seem to enjoy stop start driving but i dont mind as if i wanted an ecomical car i would of bought a diesel run around!Worth the extra petrol as u know if u do want to boot it u got more than 100 bhp against ur average car on the road!

Good news is tho when i do a 90 mile motorway run to bristol ive averaged 36 mpg doing around 80 mph with the odd boot! :)

Awesome... I couldnt give a monkeys how low it gets as long as I know its healthy. I had an STi Scooby before this, and I used to get a joke of MPG in that heap of japanese turd.

I love my Cupra. Nippy little ******* it is.

Yeah i should imagine the scooby was bad on fuel but to be fair anything turbocharged with a fairly big engine capacity is never going to achieve great mpg!A mate of mine had a evo 5 running 300 bhp, we used over £10 worth of petrol for a 10 mile run, very fast run through but still we think we have it bad and theres always someone else with a much poorer mpg! Hes alrite now tho as hes just bought a leon cupra R!Yeah i love my cupra to as its great to have something fairly rare with great standard equipment and also a good looking car with over 200 bhp once remapped forge d007, air filters etc, they are right little pocket rockets and it makes me smile everytime i put my foot down!

I running K03s and all the goodies and still getting around 27/28mpg recently and all my driving is around town and short bypass trips. Having slowed my driving down hell of alot these last few weeks though .

Also seem to be getting alot better MPG since ive swaped over to V power from tescos 99.

Hmmm, I average anything between 32-37mpg with a mixture of driving. You've got to be ragging it a lot to be seeing 22mpg all the time.

Something must be wrong then, because I rarely drive fast. When I first start the car its reading about 18mpg average, which goes up to about 22mpg avergae after 5-10 mins driving. Never seems to go above that... Do you think there is something up with it then?

Might be worth checking the condition of the sparkplugs etc.
Dodgy MAF sensors can cause reduced mpg too. Try unplugging it and take it for a quick spin (a light will show on the dash when you do this). If you notice any increase in performance, your maf sensor may be reading a little low.

What petrol are using? Using the likes of V-Power etc should show an increase in mpg (not a huge amount but maybe an extra 20 or so miles to a tank).

Funny enough, its still got the same petrol in it that it did when i bought it. It had a full tank in there, so until its empty I cant stick V-Power in it.

Can you tell me where the MAF is so can take it off tonight. Any pics would be helpful.
