MPG Reading After re-Map

MAF sensor sits just downwind of the airbox or induction kit. It's got a big plug connected to it.

My driving consists of fast country roads as i live out of town. So im usually changing between gears and going through 'da boost' lots hence my poor mpg.

Its not often im on a road in the same gear for long, alot of 2nd & 3rd gear accelerating, then slowing down, then accelerating giving me my average of 21.7 at the moment.

glassy - have you noticed a big difference since the remap?

Yeah, massive difference. the mpg has come down by about 12mpg since the re-map. But ive also fitted a filter and the Forge DV. Not sure if thats made a difference.

Ok, I took out the MAF and the MPG rating went up for 22mpg average, to 27mpg average. Which is all good. I then plugged the MAF in, and the average mpg stayed at 27-28...

So im happy. Fingers crossed when I stick some decent petrol in there, it will go up again. Im pretty sure its got some pony petrol in there.

Was there any difference in performance with it unplugged? Feel faster or no difference?

To be honest, i didnt feel anything different with it un-plugged. My avergae mpg went upto 32 at lunch, whats that all about? Does it take a while for the car to get used to a re-map, induction kit etc?

Doesn't sound like you've got any issues with your MAF sensor then mate.
I think it can take a day or two for the ecu to fully adapt to the remap.
What about that boost hesitation in your other post at 5000rpm. Was that still there with the MAF sensor unplugged?

Yeah, it still seems to do that sometimes. Im starting to think it might be the standard exhaust and air filter tho? Possibly not getting enough air or some compression in the the standard cat or something. Im getting a sports cat in a few weeks, and i'll be sticking on an open induction kit as well. I'll see what happens then.

I'm still not convinced that induction kits actually improve performance. I've just got the standard airbox on mine with a slightly larger intake hose and a Green panel filter and that seems to work fine for 240bhp. I think induction kits just make more noise than anything (and possibly extra bling in the engine bay). A bigger downpipe/sports cat/exhaust will definitely help things though. Made a massive difference on a friends 180 Leon.

A mate of mine has a sports cat that fits a cupra, will that fit onto a standard cupra exhaust?

I couldn't say for sure tbh.
Personally, I wouldn't bother with it and would put the cash towards a full turbo-back system.
