Remapping

to make use of these mods though you need to do other stuff to get their full potential - do the homework before you rush out and spend £400 on cams or £500 on a remap.

Spend the money elsewhere, i think the engine is pretty good with an induction kit and exhaust, i just dont think the bhp rewards are worth the cash, instead pimp the exterior, get some fat brakes maybee if you have money burning a hole in your pocket? Or use the money to go to GTi international and buy us all some sprints if you get desperate to unload ££!!!

i was gonna get mine remapped this summer, hence my siggy- was gonna get it done at A.M.D but as said, its not gonna make a big enough difference to make up for the money! need to take that out my siggy now, but i can't be botherd! if you've got the money lying around maybe do a 1.8t transplant? and if you remapped that it would make a huge difference, but thats if your minted! ;)

To be point to point quick, suspension and brakes will make the most difference. Keeping good tyres on board makes a big difference.

Engine work needs to be done at once and its easy to spend £2.5k on engine work being done by someone else.

Money well spent in my eyes.

TB is the best route to go for a 2.0 16v, but thats alot of money as well

having a well sorted valver i.e. brakes and suspension far outweighs power

as they say, power is nothing without control.

Personally if i had the money I would get a nice set of brakes, strip out the interior and purchase a light set of bucket seats. then IMO it would certainly fly

brakes work well from standard but a good set of uprated discs and pads all round (front and rear) does make a good difference.

Recently found out padgid no longer do the fast road pads anymore but zimmerman still do the discs.

So we're giving mintex race spec a go. See how we get on.

I thought the padgid pads i got wernt amazing! they obviously wernt the FR version.

And i think my Zimmermann drilled discs are warped. Not too badly, but the steering wheel shakes a little under heavy braking. Could have had something to do with having them Cherry red within the first 300 miles?

I want S2 twinpot brakes now anyway.

I can vouch for the getting the chassis sorted and loosing excess weight route. Those that saw me at Combe in April will know what I mean...

This is probably why they werent amazing!! With 5.1 fluid i have never had the brakes fade, including combe, road and the ring. I was very impressed.

Shame they dont do them anymore personally.

I do agree tho, a well sorted chassis far out does power in a point to point and track scenario.
