Sponge bath was a term I used as 'Lambs wool wash mitt bath' hasn't got qutie the same ring to it
Rudd - It got sanded very well before the primer went on. Both parts did in fact. Preparation is the key with things like this so I think I spent longer sanding and preparing the surface than I did on the other stages!
It had a good few coats of primer, which was then wet and dried to give a smooth and even finish. I then did a few layers of gloss black paint and then a good number of layers of lacquer, so it is very well protected and should stand up to stone chips very well.
The clever bit was being careful where to apply the heavier (if that's the right word) layers, as I was conscious of the fact that too much paint would make it hard to clip the S
badge back into it's space again. It was a tight squeeze, but it's back in there now just as securely, if not more so, than it was before I started, so no chance of it popping out
