Hi, I am now the proud owner of a new cupra tdi, in black and it puts a big :D on my face whenever I drive it. I have one question. There is a lot of wind noise around the drivers door/window. The passenger side is silent by comparison. I wonder if other owners notice the same thing?

Ta very

WELCOME TO THE SITE

The door will need adjusting or the rubber that keeps a tight seal on the window isnt sitting properly.

try shuting a pice of paper in the top half of the door and when door is closed on it pull the pice of paper out it should feel snug and even all the way along the door seal if not then the door needs adjusting by the striker in the door shut :)

Yes, I also get wind noise around the driver's door mirror. I've either gotten used to it or it settled down...

I get a lot of wind noise on the drivers side too, so loud you can hear it from the passenger side even with the radio on! Have checked the paper-thing you mentioned Rash and it seems to be shutting equally all along the door.

Thanks Gents,
I'll try the paper thing & turn up the stereo.
PS: if you are getting 53.9mpg average, you are not playing with it
properly!!:D

the paper thing it should be tight to pull out but not OTT if you can pull it out easy then not tight enough if the paper rips way too tight :)

is average of 15mpg playing enough *vinocolapso* :p

Me too! Get a soft whistling behind me to my right when driving over around 45mph. Dealers have replaced the seal but to no avail... as it's not leaking or adding drag I'm not too fussed, really. Besides, the noise of the tyres on the road or wind around the mirrors or occupants blabbering away usually drowns it out.

I think all Mk4's suffer from wind noise on the drivers side unfortunatly :(

I dont  :D but 1 thing i do get but im not bothered at all is sometimes when i turn a corner and the wind is blowing hard il get a freezing gust of wind from the centre consol really weird

mine rattles a bit (coilovers) and it has gusts of wind blowing on me but i love the car too much to be bothered

I had and still have some wind noise in the drivers side door.

The dealers have had it in and the mechanic said SEAT have designed something like 9 different door seals all of with have had no proper success. He also said its a common problem on the Fr's and the cupras, especially on the drivers side.

Mine is ok now under 60mph but when its goes higher, there is a slight whistly noise.

Take it in to the dealers and if its under warrenty get them to change it for the latest door seal design.

warped disc then mate or you need some copper grease unless uve got a drum of course ;)

no drums on the tdi 130 ;) to be honest i reckon i have a seized caliper guess the only way to find out is to take it off an investigate :) might have a go tomorrow if i can brake myself away from replacing all my vacuum hoses for silicone items :D
