Humm, just took my car to stealth racing as the engine light came on last night, MAF sensor has gone wrong  !, but they didnt recommend the K&N i was running, doesnt seem to have been running right on it when plugged into the VAG com and they havent had great experiences with them.
So going to try a BMC, they recommended it and everyone on here sounds pretty chuffed with theirs, just hope it doesnt make it much quietier!

in my eyes the BMC is the best looking of all the induction kits, fits right in with the OE look.

for induction noise try either ram-air or dyna twist as these are louder than the BMC, the BMC hasn't got that much roar when you boot it, more of a slight low down revs rumble.

owners of both ram-air and dyna twist seem very happy with the performance and reliablilty of there induction kits.

if i was doing it over again, knowing what i now do i'd have gone ram-air, simply for the roar factor!

Ive got a split R on mine and i couldnt really hear it, now the noise comes back more though the K & N air filter. Got a Milltek cat-back exhaust too, but just doesnt seem to make much noise.

Milltek cat-back exhaust - is that the Resonated or NoN resonated version??

Has anyone with an LC got the induction kit off could the give me the measurement of the internal dimension of the pipe that goes onto the MAF or the pipe to the old airbox.

When you have fitted the induction kits do some just get rid of the other small breather that goes into the airbox or what size mini filter will I need as I hav an induction kit to go on but the pipe is missing from the filter to the Maf, got it cheap so not complaining

Thanks in advance

70mm on the LC and 80mm on the LCR's

I bought a seperate breather filter, can't remember the size but was under £10!

Mine is the non resonated version, just doesnt seem to make alot of noise, although i have been uset to 2ltr novas and corsas in the past, different kind of car!

i've got a raid filter on my LCR, its exactly the same as the ramair filter. i got it direct from raid through their ebay shop

CUPRAH010.jpg

but the support bar that goes from the battery tray and attaches to the MAF has snapped some of the plastic on the MAF housing so now it moves about a fair bit. i'm thinking about putting the standard airbox back on with a decent panel filter until i can afford a BMC carbon kit. :( it was fine until i got it remapped!

Can you hear it at all? Does it make a differance from standard? Seats have good sound damping so might be worth asking a mate when you drive past him what he thinks????

Im planning to get one quite soon!!

My ram air did exactly the same mate, snapped the clip off the side of the MAF, a small bit of fiddling and i knocked this up, i know it looks a bit tatty, but it works brilliantly, why they dont come with two brackets to start with i dont know...

Please can I suggest that the solid bracket from battery tray to MAF is a poor idea. Body shocks are being transmitted directly to the MAF without any damping.

DJP, there is a large rubber washer on the battery tray end mate, and there is a rubber lining to the coller around the MAF, just cant see it ion the pic. Would that be enough do you think? Iv had it on for nearly a year now and no MAF issues to date!

The large rubber washer on the battery tray isn't the original is it?

If you're happy, I'm happy!

(I killed several MAFs when I originally had my RamAir on. Although it was probably due to over-cleaning, I'm a bit paranoid over MAF protection!)

I've refitted a RamAir recently. I have a Forge TIP which supports it well at one end. At the intake end I have a flexi-bracket across to the turret. I have a bubblewrap 'cushion' underneath the RamAir.

No mate, is it one i got off one of the John Deere tractors at work :), they wont notice it gone..

I only clean mine twice a year, need to order some more solvent cleaner actually. Does the TIP hold it well, i always wondered how well it would sit with one on as that is on the shopping list of bits to get. Think i have seen a pic of yours actually, is it that drilled ali rod????
