Hi,

Don't flame me with search posts, did find a post on this that went off topic with two members having a pop so could not be bothered to read it all.

I have a question, to buy a Forge (or similar) DV for my S3 was around £90, now I saw on Forge's site when looking to see if you can swap the standard DV on my FR TDI for one of their shiny ones, two different versions for the Diesel engine.

So...

1. What is the difference between a "FMDDV - Diesel Dump Valve kit" at £250 and the "FMDV001 - Fast Road Dump Valve" at £70

2. Is it worth changing the OEM DV on the FR TDI for a shiny Forge one other than for cosmetic reasons?

Thanks :)

If its one of those crappy plastic bosch ones, then yes!

If you have a diesel car you will need the full dump valve fitting kit and the Forge DV with the ecu controler

We also have the correct fitting kit to make the fitment 100% .

The FM DV 001 valve that you mention will only work on a Petrol turbo car with no MAF.

As such the diesel SEATs do not need a dump valve , they offer no performance increase what so ever , they will not improve turbo response , they will not prolong turbo life.

All this valve will do is make the dump valve whooshing sound .....safely .
If that is what you would like then we have a kit for you .

Its a personal modification , some like the sound some dont.

lol - why would you want a whoosey noise on the TDI, it has NO other benefits.

You might as well get one of those crappy speakers under the bonnet that plays a sound when you change gear lol

The Forge kit for £250 is just an upmarket version of that!

Cheers all,

Thought it was cosmetic only so will be leaving that well alone, as said I looked into a Forge (or similar) DV for the S3 but when I found out it was just a "shiny" addition and did nothing much better than the OEM DV I left it alone and put the £90 towards a set of 18" RS4 Reps :)

I certainly do not want the "whoosh" sound ChrisUK so don't you worry about me going off down "Chav Street" ;)

If it was worth doing performance wise combined with a remap I may have thought about it, but even then @ £250 would have been put off to be honest.

One thing I have learnt is that the TDI does not have a dump valve, I thought it would have as it is a Turbo Diesel and you can kinda hear something sucking under the bonnet on acceleration, so last question on this I promise....

What makes the sucking noise I mention above?

To be fair, whilst it offers no performance increase, it's a very worthwhile mod and far more than 'shiny' stuff under the bonnet. The standard units are prone to failure even on standard cars, so the Forge replacements are worth every penny :)

OK so worth it due to the OEM ones being prone to failure, will remember that if I ever get another S3 or a LCR ;)
