yet i am now sat here with an intercooler because they weren't willing to offer advice.
the thing looks ok but wtf does a sewage worker know about it?
i asked the advice of the proffessionals only to be told "buy ours"

My advice... stick with the original plan and fit it all. It's impossible to rubbish this FMIC before it's fitted, tried and tested. If you fit it and it turns out you don't like it or it's not all it's cracked up to be, eBay it as a complete kit and you'll get some if not most of your money back.

You've bought it so go for it, might turn out to be a bargain! :)

I am sorry if you didnt get the info you needed, its a difficult call commenting on whats on ebay , but I am yet to see anything other than the straight thro tubes.......if we can help you with plumbing parts we will , otherwise sell it again on e bay and we will look after you ......

Regarding the pricing , its not a simple issue and certainly not one I am going to share on here , all I can tell you is there are many factors , such as dealer discounts etc , shipping costs and place of manufacture ..... all in all if you buy Forge you know you are buying quality.......... that if you arent happy with you can get ALL YOUR money back....not blowing our own trumpets here ....but see who else will offer this on everything they make even on ECU software

After reading through the complete thread (god damn 4 pages long) i personally (my comments arent exactly going to hold alot of weight but anyhoo) would rather go for the well known and more experianced companies i.e. Forge.
Most things you buy off of ebay are cheap knock offs with regards to cars. I bought MAF off some guy who had his own ebay shop. It wasnt GEN but its was 1/3 of the GEN price. I thought bargain. Bought it, couple months later had nothing but problems. Bought a VAG one and it runs like it should

If your willing to spend less on an item from ebay which has no real company stamp then you are looking for trouble as i could have sworn i saw nothing about refunds on the listing only that he takes no responsibilty for buying the wrong IC and wrongly fitting, if so then you might as well take that money your going to spend on the intercooler, go down the pub, have a drink and leave the money on the table and go home cos thats all your doing basically

If you want to buy something that is going to run right, have someone who knows what they're talking about, willing to give information when ever theres a problem, willing to give a refund if its not up to spec then save your money and get one from forge or where ever as your better off

See im in two minds over all this.

I just thought a intercooler was a intercooler, as soon as you start looking into it, its well complicated.

Thing is, if it was easy enough to DIY, then everyone would of done by now.

The thing about the Forge one is the fact it looks as though its easy enough to DIY fit and its a COMPLETE kit.

I just wish it was £450 ish!!! :(

I think that if it were a straight decision between which one to buy, it would be the brand name one every time. But I still think that since you have already bought it and paid for it, you should stick with it and see what happens.

well after sitting with it on my lap thinking and pricing stuff on and off the web, trying to speak to suppliers at work for tubing, and other things at home at the moment.
i sent it back,i have lost my postage(20 quid ish) no biggie.
with shifts the way they are at the moment i haven't even had time to fit my TIP(forge one naturally).
the cooler?
seemed good to a complete novice, good welds, well finished end tanks etc etc
the guy selling them was sound too,so if someone does want to give it a whirl then..........

Forge ,thanks for the offer, might speak to you soon,if i DO get one, then it will almost certainly be from you guys.

i guess i just bottled it,at the thought of spending money on something that may not work

Most of my kit is from forge, fmic, dv, tip and silicon hosing for most of the above mentioned. Ebay offers cheap alternatives yes but how can you have R&D AND low prices.
Its like most things in life, you can choose to pay little for a chinese etc, item which will last ten minutes and have no warranty on it, or buy british and get local support and warranty, its up to you.

Internally finned... not turbulator'd. Bar & Plate constructed, not extruded core... more of a heat sink than heat exchanger.
but brazed core or glued core? very different heat transfer characteristics

XS Power make some rubbish mind... cheap as chips for a reason.
I do like their end tanks however.

I would hazard a guess that the same size Forge extruded core, internally finned, brazed would dissipate more heat than one of these, despite the "size" of the XS Power one looking appealing. (if it does'nt heat exchange efficiently, it needs to be oversized to achive the same effect, which is also bad.

no mention of glued or brazed cores, internal turbulators and the differences, and the front airflow aspect is pure toyota specific....

mine runs internal deflector plate on the intake tank to even out the airflow & distribution making use of the whole core.
