EPC and Engine light problems

Hi all,

I have the Seat Ibiza 1.4 100bhp Sports

Over the last couple of days the engine problem light has been staying on all the time as a result of the EPC light coming on.

If it did come on it use to go out after if I removed and replaced the key a few times but not anymore.

The EPC light has been coming on when I have been sitting in traffic and start to move again where sometimes the revs drop down as the car start to kick into gear.

Any ideas whats causing this or I am better of bringing it straight to a Seat dealer.

The garage i use to go to has gone for Seat to renault so looking for a good Seat garage in the Dublin area if anyone knows one.

Thanks for your help

could be a few things, like pedal faults etc. Probably best just getting seat to hook it up to the diagnostics and getting the fault code. Will probably make a quicker response than u fiddling on under the bonet not knowing for sure if you have fixed it.

They said that some valve is gone on and the engine light wont go off until i get it replaced.

They quoted me over €300 to get it fixed where if i don't get it fixed the engine noise will get louder and louder.

There is 40,000 miles on it but they were on about gettting the belt changed.

I thought they lasted until 60,000 miles

They said it was the EPG valve that needs to be replaced.

Cost is €332 all in.

Am I been ripped off or is it ok

I'd doubt if this member is still about as "his" last posting was in 2007. I'm guessing that the valve that was being changed would be the EGR (exhaust gas recycling) valve.
