I need new discs & pads too :( I had the pads changed not long after my 10k service - the only one with friction material left on it was the one with the wear indicator!

I've done just over 17k now and I've got bit of a lip (a lot of a lip actually!) on the edges of the discs. Also they fade a lot more than they used to, so probably worth changing the fluid at the same time, and possibly the hoses too... although I've heard mixed reports about them, some say they're worth it, others hardly notice any difference..

As I'm wanting to change the whole lot, discs & pads all round, fluid & maybe the hoses, I'd be interested to see how the EBC kit performs on the LCR as it could save me a fair bit of cash.

I had EBC TG discs & green stuff pads on my Pug 206 a few years ago, and while they were a massive improvement over the OE set up, I felt they could have been a lot better...

The first two are during fitting and the second two are after driving - you can see the gold coating has started to come off.

does look good!

im just worried that they are going to warp like so many previous EBC TG discs! :(

i hope you guys get on well with them as if EBC have pulled their finger out i may think about using them in the next couple of months!

i just feel its too much of a risk at the mo from past experiences and the huge amount of bad reports iv heard!

im not having ago, im just saying... so good luck and fingers crossed u get on with them ok!

We all felt we had stumbled across a bargain with the Galfer pads but that didn't turn out to be such a good thing. Perhaps the EBC ones will go the opposite way - turn out to be better than predicted.

i certainly hope so!

especially as il be needing new front discs/pads/fluid in jan/begining of feb

at the mo im thinking 90% get the Ferrodo DS2500 fast road pads, not cheap but they are VERY reccomended on here

and then some drilled and/or groved discs... such as the drilled brembo ones from the TT shop (i think i read it was from there!)

that will come to around £320 ish i think/hope

where as EBC TG discs and red stuff pads may be a cheaper option... but i will ONLY consider them if you guys give a good report! :) ;)

just did a quick search... (http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=104964)

from Alex at the TT shop...

...We are able to do the Genuine Brembo discs for £129.25 each. These are available as drilled discs or plain discs for the same price.

The Pads that we use are either Ferodo DS Performance (these are the new and better DS2500's) at £94.95 for the set or the EBC Red Stuffs for £115.00....

CUPRAH002-1.jpg

so thats drilled brembos for £258.50 and £94.95 Ferrodo DS2500 fast road pads

£353.45

and then il need uprated fluid (£10?!) (and p&p on top!)

this will be worse case scenario!

EDIT: only £65 more for original brembro drilled discs (as apposed to EBC TG discs)... doesn't sound to bad to me! :)

How are you guys finding the Red Stuff pads from cold?

As I used to have a set on my old Escort RS Turbo... and they were useless untill they were warmed up....

Unless of course one of the pad pins is stuck in and the disc retaining screw has siezed!!!!

well my pins are fine! ;)

surely a punch would have got the pin out?! you have to use a punch anyway!

and on my old car when i went to change the discs, the disc retaining screw was seized and then the screwdriver burred the screw head! [:@] so i ended up drilling it out... which didn't really matter as its the wheel bots that holds the discs to the hub not the screw!

this is another reason why i will use ferrodo DS2500 pads over red stuff! ;)
