Just had my first service with the LCR, I told them not to wash the car and what do they do??

It looks like they've washed it with a brush aswell which thoroughly p1sses me off as it shows a complete lack of understanding when it comes to looking after the paint. Idiots.[:@] Can't really tell but I guarantee they've added a load of swirls to the paint.

i always put a note across the clocks saying DO NOT WASH THIS CAR lol.......

I would complain and get them to pay for any swirl removal..

Service wash... Dot Cotton style!

My brand new LCR was delivered in January with a Dealer "valet" complete with added swirls to virgin red paint and that "special new car non gloss shine".

Spent 5-6 hours bringing it back but had to take it back with a warranty issue and they stripped every layer of wax off it again.

The guy with the scrubbing brush out back cannot read as I even left a note in the car........dealer monkey complete with angle grinder!!

This happened twice.

First service coming up in January, will book in then shoot said monkey just to be sure. Having said that I m sure someone else in the "customer service/ quality control dept" will notice dead monkey and come to the rescue, brush in hand!!!

I know they will have added loads of swirls to the paint. I am so angry, cretins. What are my chances of getting them to pay for it to be professionally polished?

Get the dealer to inspect the paint work with you before the service and make him sign a document stating that it is swirl and scratch free and that they will be responsible for any damage done to the car before the service is done. Then instruct them the easiest way to avoid any legal claim for damage through negligence is to not wash/clean the car just service the mechanicals.

If they don't want to sign such a document just say ok no problem I'll go to xxx down the road and give them my money instead.

I came across a same situation a couple of weeks ago. Took the car in, service was complete and the guy said wait at the door, someone will drive it to you.

Waited when this old guy patted me on the shoulder and said, just giving it a quick clean for you and had a tone that said - doing you a favour and I justs didn't have the heart to say NOOOOO.....

No real harm done but I do agress that I do not like it usually.

I remember getting my car back after service and thinking how nice, they've washed it. Then I realised I was getting charged an extortionate hourly rate for them doing it. They wouldn't do it for free....

I did this with my Elise a few years a go, I had just had it resprayed in a 21 way flip at a cost of £7,000.

My letter said, jus tbe respray at cost of £7,000, if damage repair will requre a full respray at £7,000. Please be very carefull (shortened but something like that.

They refused to touch the car saying they may scratch it with a screw driver or something and this would not be their fault so would not cover cost. I asked what they would do with a standard colour, they said repair it so why not repair mine?

I was happy as I wanted to take it back to the factory forthe floor recall work, they were very good, did a damage sheet going in (no damage) and out (again no damage) they were also impressed by the paint, pitty lotus can't paint that well

Your lucky. My dealer didn't wash it and the mechanic had been wearing latex gloves and had taken them off and left powder on everything he touched. Looked like someone had fingerprinted the whole inside of the car.

when i picked up my LC from Bickets, Kilmarnock they had done an excellent job polishing it! What a great finish!

They also wash your car every time it's in at the garage if you want.

Personally I opt out as I'm sure thats how I lost two of the Cupra letters off the badge. They power hose it to death!

Everytime i take my car in for warranty work at Listers in coventry i tell them not to clean my car, they write it on the sheet and it doesnt get done. The last time they cleaned it the ba$tards blew my paint of my bump strips :-o, they tried to claim it was already like that.

The only time my car went to listers they wrote 'do not wash' on the sheet. Pity the sheet never got off the service desk. They were pleased as punch they had found the reverse light didn't work. Pity that was written above do not wash.

Plus they didn't get the dirt off it anyway, just blew the dust off and melted the wax in the doors.

Listers monkey

It seems the Listers monkey is consistent in his work after losing his job as a shotblaster, thats the very place I bought my LCR.

They also do a free car wash on a saturday, rather wash mine myself, then i know its getting taken care of

Did you buy it from there recently?

I go to college with the seat and chrysler apprentices and some of the stories they have told me about taking customers cars out and abusing the **** out of them is absolutly disgracefull.

When i take my car there now i always put it in limp mode, note the mileage and reset everything, including my boost gauge and egt gauge.

The last time i forgot to do this they wheelspun my car into the workshop, past the show room, then when i enquired about it afterwards they tried to make me look like an absolute c*nt by saying did you actually see the wheels spinning? and that the cars are never driven like that on there premises.

Moral of the story, if you take your car there, make sure you stay with it, go out on the test drives if it requires it, note mileage etc etc and also take the maf sensor out so it goes to limp mode.
