Ok I know this topic has been flogged to death along with aero wipers, but I need to clear a few things up.

I’m looking at getting an iPod link for Mk3 cupra, I’ve been looking at the Dension kit, which looks great. But I still have a few questions.

It obviously connects via the CD changer port on the back on the back of the radio, anyone got a picture of the Dension connector as I can’t see one on the t’internet. Also does this mean my changer is out of action while the iPod is there. Can a dual socket of sorts be found to use both the iPod and the changer alternatively?

How many of you guys are using them and are they a lot better than an FM transmitter in terms of ease of use, functionality and quality.

If I were purchasing this I would have gone for the FM transmitter, but as my old man is getting it for me, I might as well go for the Dension link but just want a little background info on it first from you guys.

So am i right in thinking that the Dension link, uses the first five preset buttons to play the first five playlists on your iPod, and button 6 to access the commands, but equally, i can use button 6 to view the remainder of my playlists too.

I take it also, you don't use your CD changer for the time being, or is there a way of using it when your iPod is not in use?

Had a nightmare experience with the Dension kit - put me right off. I'm only just getting money back owed to me for failed installations and I placed the original order in June this year!

I'm sure the kit works fine for plenty of people, but for me, I wouldn't touch it with yours. Just my opine of course!

equally i'm looking for ideas on where to mount my iPod, as i'm not looking to ruin the contours of my dash by having a cradle hanging off it.

Have any of you mounted your iPod's differently?

Thats what i was thinking, i have a mini at the moment and i think it'll fit, i don't smoke the the ash tray is meaningless, but i'm not sure what to do about the cigarette lighter / 12v supply.

Thats the idea, was hoping to hide my iPod in my ash tray compartment somehow

The wire it in behind the dash, keeping it all neat and tidy

but is the kit wired proprely in to the stand for it??
IE bit like a mobile phone car holder.... the electrics are all molded in to the bottom of it...

No idea mate, i don't have one. You'd expect it to when you're shelling out nearly £100 for it. But to be honest i don't want the cradle. I'd rather make my own cradle in the ash tray somehow

Wasn't aware anything like that was available ?

An Ipod Nano and that kit has just gone top of my shopping list ! :p

Think i'd wire mine in through the back of the glove box , just plug it in and throw in there !

Ok Christmas is here and i'm trying to fit my Dension kit to my Cupra.

I'm having a few problems, firstly, there is an unterminated black wire hanging from the connector, where does this need to be connected to?

Secondly, when i press the CD button its saying "changer" which i can only assume the stereo isn't seeing anything be it my CD changer or my iPod link? While on my iPod its saying "Ok to disconnect" when i've just plugged it in,

Oh by the way i seemed to have had the misfortune of not receiving a manual with the kit, hence all the questions!

Any help is appreciated, many thanks

Merry Christmas...

The black wire just needs to do to earth. The display will still say changer as thats wat the headunit thinks is there.

Until its earthed it wont work. Just push the wire into the back of the iso plug and tape it up. That works fine and saves cutting wires etc.

looking at this kit myself, bit pricey but it seems to work well (alot better than fm transmitter anyway)

mines one of the bigger ones (60gb) looking at the cradle im not too keen on ruining my dash, i got the sidewinder case with mine and it comes with a sticky plate you can put on the back of the case to stick to surfaces (ie dash)

my only concern with this is if i wanted to remove the ipod case (ipod will still be remobable) it will probably leave loads of sticky crap all over my dash :(

so im a bit stuck on where/how to mount it .........

Just wired this in David, and the quality is excellent. Took about 10 minutes to install. At a later date i will modify my ashtray to house my 6gb Mini and hide the iPod wire neatly but for the moment i wanted to see if it worked. All in all a great piece of kit.

Incidently i have been reading about people who have the kit and noticed that it seems to skip two tracks at once in both directions. Mine does this also, does anyone know how to get round this?
