dont understand some of you guys, the vxr is a good car, all the current 200 bhp+ hot hatches are!!! they are all sub 20k thrills! just a matter of taste with the looks, i think they look good, and to be fair if you own a diesel then you cant really compare your car as its not really in the same category as the vxr.

I'm not a tractor driver myself, but I'm curious, have you ever been out in a TDi FR/Cupra ? I've been in a chipped Cupra TDi that was every bit as fast as my standard LCR. OK, it sounded awful but I don't think you can write them off so easily. The only reason to put them in a separate category is that they get twice as many miles per gallon as us and have to put up with a harsh engine sound.

I read an article in Evo a while back, they took out a Focus RS and an Astra VXR. They each drove each others car, the Focus RS owner hated the VXR because of its incredibly bad torque steer - this coming from the owner of a notoriously twitchy RS. The conclusion of the article was that Vauxhall got the VXR very wrong. It will be interesting to hear what people on here think about the VXR handling...

Bob (fully expecting to get told how much better the handling of a VXR is compared to the LCR)

yeah i have been in a diesel and yes they are very fast, my point is they were built for a different market, you dont get the same feel from a diesel but you get the mpg, not many people having owned a diesel would then go to a vxr, as for the handling, not driven one, but to be fair it does sound like a lot through the front wheels, the best handling hot hatch on the market i have driven at the moment is the megan 225 with cup pack, lovely

Ye your right it is a lot going through the front wheels and it does suffer from torque steer but you just have to put the power down properly, its like any car if you just floor it all you will do is spin. Handling wise it is amazing through the twisting roads, it handles far better than my mk3 ibiza cupra!! I was pleasantly surprise, even in the wet!! It just seems to hug the road, it feels very low and squat when driving it.

Have a look at mine........! What a car

You all say how you can take the VXR, but you all have heavily modified cars, if i spent the same amout on my VXR it would be me saying good bye. With a Exhaust and simple remap i would be getting 280bhp+......

You cannot say this is an ugly car!!

You should try the car out before you make judgement

I do like the VXR, looks best in red[B)]

Wouldnt swap an LCR for 1 though mainly due to it not being a step up. A sidestep yes, but step up no.

M3/RS4 would be a good step up and will be where im heading for next car if i save enough pennies:)

You do know remap/exhaust also gets the same 280bhp from the LCR. If you spent the same amount as we do on remap/exhaust you would be saying bye bye to no similar specced LCR.

Already seen VXR's for as low as £13500. Considering the car is only 1 yr old that is a great whack in depreciation and i would hazard a guess at its 3 yr point being far worse.

3 yr LCR's are still selling for 10-11k which isnt to bad at all considering you could get them new for £17500.
