Shudder like hicup about 1.5-8k revs - UPDATED

I dont know what to call this or how to describe it but i'll try.

Car: 06 FR PD130 (2 weeks old)
Miles: 1050

What it should do:Starts fine, turns off fine, restarts fine, revs fine, mog is excellent trip recons 60mpg at times fuel / mile - its within good range

What it shouldnt do: more so when cold, gently accelerating over the 1.5k to 2k mark there is a judder, like a misfire. I you are doing 40 example at 1700rpm on a flat road in 4th, back off the gas for few seconds then touch it just a lil it will jerk.

It does it more so when warming up, but last night sitting in the drive, a gental increase of revs from idle and i could make it repeatedly "miss" at the given rev point.

Booked into seat on the 1st august, but its always best to ask here.

I would search but ive practically read these forums dry over the past 2 yrs so i know ive never seen this issue before (from memory) or know what to search it as.

Can anyone shed some light? Ive had it on vag-com and the engine has no fault codes but being a diesel i cant see how this can happen easily.

Does the Ibiza have the dual mass fly-wheel ? Apparently, VW are having a lot of failures on these fly wheels that give a "miss-fire" feeling as a symptom. Obviously not an actual missfire but it feels similar to one.

Possibly a long shot but something I've been told by a mate who's a VW Mechanic - he likes to scare me about the consequences of my car being Revo'd and hugely faster than his lesser spec 1.9 TDi !!!

shuddering at those revs is usually due to overfueling [chip or box that is]. The problem is in the transmission not liking too much torque at low revs.
being this a new car, I guess it's still standard [if it's already chipped in two weeks you've got my respect!] so could be the flywheel as s3 says,,,

this said, my car [badly chipped] shudders a lot but I learned to drive around it,,, altho this has happened for 4 years now [+2 of the first owner] and hasn't caused problems [touching wood].

You might want this prob solved being the car in warranty,,,

btw I thought vw had solved the dmf problems,,, [:@]

Im about to read your link chris, asked about at the local seat meet last night n folk suggested different things. Ive never had a new car to run in before, took it all nice and easy so no trouble there, just that when it occures its with teh most minimul amount of power, what i mean is it isnt like there is a hike in power and the transmission cant handle it (though that makes perfect sense for more agressive remaps) this is linda 1L acceleration, let half or full boost lose and you dont notice it.

Is it possible for the standard map to have a hickup in it?

Back to the dealers, lets hope they actually find it n not claim im imagining it....:think:

take a ride in the car, you drivin and the service guy on your side so you can produce the stutter and he can't deny anything,,,

I am more prone to think it's a software problem since the old flywheel problems should now be solved by vw and there are more chances that they changed the code than the flywheels,,,

I'd go to revo, get the car remapped and see if that cures the problem,,, :lol:

Already taken the guy for a test drive, it stuttered once (sods law) and he missed it - me driving. It worse when cold but after reading many pages on the skoda forum from the above link, i am going to test the EGR valve, first off by disconnecting the vacume hose and plugging it to see if it makes a difference.

Apparantly, skoda have been trialing a fix though this seems to be a modded ERG valve. Whether this is a gasket as some suggest or a unit fix i dont know, yes alternatively there is the revo test code but its something im trying to avoide if i can help it.

I have vag-com so i might have a nose, but apparantly seat, vw, audi are classing it more as a charactoristic (my arse) than a problem unlike skoda who say yes there is a problem but we are still scratching our heads.

UPDATE:

Having taken my car to the dealers (canterbury - barretts) my opinion of them has improved let me tell ou why.

Hesitation issues, somethinng ive read about folk having and seat shrugging off, well guess who got a brand new EGR valve control module fitted (so im told) to try and rule the problem out after leaving the car with them for over a day.

Now what happens is when the cars warm shes perfect no judders, when shes cold the flat spot of torque seems to have been removed yet it still shakes at a certain point of the warm up process. I have also vag-com;d the EGR settings to see if it makes a difference/stop my intake from clogging over time.

Not a total success this but an update non the less. I hope this helps someone.

has anyone else had this problem? I've had my FR TDi for 2 months now and I first noticed the judder about a month ago. Had a word with Seat but they don't really want to sort it out.

Read all the posts on Briskoda- anyone else had this problem fixed by seat?

Result......*smiles*

The car was in at seat for ONE MONTH! they changed the maf, temp sensor, cleaned egr valve (improved it abit) in the end replaced the EGR its self. Now the car is fine it doesn't shudder at low revs at all un any condition. However i have now developed what i think is vibrations from the DMF upon certain lower gear changes but thats another story. Think i got a troublesome one here.

I had a simular sort of problem. I coudl accelerate sometimes and there would be akind of hicup like you discribe, also going over bumps in the road, wasnt all the time just some of the time, and again, usually when cold. The coil light flashed aswell.

Took to stealer and they said was a sensor of some sort, think it was to do with fuel and under warrenty got it replaced, going in on wednesday, just adding this for future referance for anyone else. Also, a big reason for this is faulty break light switch.

I'd almost given up on getting my car fixed for this problem - the dealer just kept saying they couldn't feel it - i was starting to believe maybe it was just me!

I'm going to give them a ring now armed with this information.....

faulty brake light switch causing problems with power delivery?!? :cartman:

TBH I can't see how a brake light switch could cause problems with the power delivery

Phoned my dealer - they're going to take another look on Monday for me so I might actually get somewhere this time!

I know someone that had this problem, they got the switch fixe,d problem went...so in answer to your question, yes. And my problem apparnelty is just a sensor, I think they said on the CAM. I will know after Wednesday if it has fixed it.

problems to the cam sensor could well be. brake switch :no: .
brake switch and brake light bulb failure cause the glowplug/engine management light to turn on and that's one thing. power delivery problems can be caused by engine management faults and that lights the engine management light too [obviously]. this doesn't mean that the brake light switch can cause problems to the engine. I ain't slaggin you, it just doesn't make sense.

Mine was fixed, was the CAM sensor or something to do with fuel delivery. But mine isnt a shudder in 5th like you describe mine was like a powerloss hiccup for a spilit second. All fixed now under warrenty however
