Blown turbo or damaged wastegate?

I can't remember if you're on an aftermarket TIP or a std one?

Revo Stage 2
Samco TIP
Forge 007P DV
Forge FMIC
VW 4 bar FPR
Dynatwist
Milltek exhaust with 100 cell race cats
Autometer boost gauge tapped in near 4 bar FPR

I have removed the Feel's oversized charge pipe for now as it made sense whilst it was back in the dealers not to give them more ammo, so the std one is back on for now.

dunno if this is of help.
I have a pressure pump(vacuum also) hand type jobbie, same as Forge use to check their products with.
You can apply pressure to the wastegate from N75 pipe connection for example and see how many psi/bar it takes for the actuator to move, and how easily the thing moves.

Its an easy test... typical pressure likely to be 7psi to 9psi I would guess on stock actuator on LCR.

Its showed problems up on mine (sticking wastegate flapper & sill high actuator pre-load for example)

If you have access to a pump of sorts with gauge its a test which will confirm the mechanics of it and leaks.

Cheers for this Bill, I will see if this can be checked.

Ah ok, worth a try. You wont see anything really unles you start taking stuff off the car like the cahrge pipe. The high pitch whistle sounds just like mine did and it took ages to find. Its a quick fix too

You'll be amazed at what dealers miss........ I don't think they even popped warren's bonnet!

Don't think they missed anything did they!!! Can't see any cracked pipes around here.......:censored: :censored: :censored: :censored:

At least Vince had to spend at least 10 minutes resolving the issue so it was worth me driving all the way to Southam! There's no way SEAT opened the bonnet. I spoke to them afterwards and they were somewhat sheepish, but much as expected. So total price: £20 to fix, and not £2k as the SEAT dealers were first estimating for the blown turbo / knackered wastegate. Car is flying now, and just done a throttle body alignment on it and it is even better again.

Best bit of the day was the free breakfast with all the trimming from Mark, so cheers for that, and I'm now even happier I haven't specced the bucket seats.

 That's so outrageous, it's hilarious. Told you it was a spilt wastegate hose :bleh:

Not funny for you though

I had the hose off the Charge Pipe to the N75 split like that - I guessed it was down to and overtightened hose clamp??

The relief of it being such a cheaply resolved issue was what has made me decide to go easy on SEAT.

IF I had been foolish enough to have said, go fix it at any cost, heaven knows where the bill would have ended up, but thankfully Vince ran it and immediately had a fairly good idea of what the issue was. The requested boost was in the low 20's, and it was delivering boost figures as high as 29psi by Saturday morning (even in stock mode - accelerating in 6th gear at 40mph)

You guys were doing a better job of diagnosing the fault blind than SEAT did of having the car under their noses for 8 hours!

I'd foolishly thought, if SEAT can't find an issue, I wont be able to find anything (not being a mechanic and all), but I will never take that approach again.

Grade 'A' bufoonery on a grand scale.
