I have to say that the problem arises from the car (Leon) not being an 'obvious' choice for the majority.

I'm a little concerned about this problem myself with my current car.

The LCR is becoming a car that lads with Saxo's etc are now upgrading to now that they are dropping into the sub 10K market . I think this is affecting the standard Leon Cupra used price. Yellow cars will limit your prospective buyers as well.

Insurance is still going to dictate this though. Not many Saxo-Chavs can afford, or even get, insurance for a group 17 car!

I know its been chipped etc but £11k for a two / half year old car (when new ones which were going significantly under list when the new leon was lauched) feels high to me.

Add that to the colour and the fact its the old style leon lends itself to not being overly popular. You still stand a chance of getting that call which will lead to a sale, but not a sackload of interest.

Best of luck.

Just dont mention its remapped, dont even turn it off if its revo, doubt many would notice tbh they would just think yeah its fast i will buy it, if it where me i would remove any mods that are obvious like induction kit etc though, and wouldnt mention the remap.

Yeah but that's not a very nice thing to do, considering remapping has insurance consequences.

Seems to me there is almost no point sticking things on Autotrader, I have had 3 calls from people wanting to put a private dealer in touch and three emails from people wanting me to add the car to their website...

Currently the biggest waste of 16 pounds.

I could not agree more ,if anything it has opened my eyes to just how much cars are going for these days and more importantly how much money they loose in such a short time. Think i will get more for it as a part exchange !

Well i have top admit i was going to buy a car on here but it was remapped and it put me off - i think this is more of an issue on newer cars that are in warranty or people that do high milage.

What's putting people off are your modifications.

Have you considered having your ECU flashed to stock, removing the tints, putting the OE back box on etc etc?

It won't affect the price but will widen the interest.

For an un-modified car Autotrader is by far the best place to sell.

I'd have to agree with paul.
You still sticking in too many in-your-face mods.
To put it in other words "TOO MANY INSURANCE HIKING MODS"
You have a great car but the mods you list limits your buyers.

The mods you list emits vibes that you have abused and kaned the lights out of the car.
Why not remove your ecu and replace it with a standard one then you can later on sell your modified ecu at a later date:D

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I didn't want to start an identical one for myself. I don't think we are going for the same market. If you object I'll gladly delete this item and start another thread.

Mines an 04 Leon Cupra R 225. Completely standard and mint condition. I have looked on Autotrader etc and I think I've priced it in line with others for sale. It's advertised on Autotrader, PistonHeads and this site, but I've only had 1 email on it and 1 canvassing call. Any ideas how I could improve the advert and gain more interest?

Please don't say lower the price, I'm aware of the fact that this will increase the interest, I'm more after things to say or not to say.

Apart from a little unnecasery flannel at the end of the Autotrader Ad, the only other thing is the price. I'd advertise at £11,995ono and be prepared to take £11,500.

i know you don't want to drop your price but look at it this way...

I searchedthe autotrader nationally for 3 year old LCR's in the range 11k-13k, max 40,000 miles, private sale...

Only half a dozen came up, one of which was yours. if i were buying an LCR there was a black one and a platinum one i'd look at first, purely on colour. Your car in no way stood out. There is nothing wrong with the wording of your advert, it's as it should be; factual, informative and not with unnecassery comments that make you sound like del-boy. If you want your car to stand out, the only way you'll do it is on price. If you are not prepared to drop the price then you are just going to have to wait and hope.

Might be due to the fact that Xmas is coming up soon and people are saving their pennies. I found always better to sell in the summer or buy in the winter. This time of year i think its a buyers market which usually means you have to lower the price to generate any sort of interest (which sucks), unless your car is really sought after . Also with the new reg cars recently on the market garages have alot of recent trade ins they are trying to shift off the forecourts.
Do you have to sell right now? Perhaps if you can keep it a while longer and sell in the new year you might get a few more bites!

I think your probably right. Looking at 40 miles around me for private sellers on Cupra R's up to 3 years old, there's one at 10,500 on 38K miles and a year older and one on 14K miles same age and thats 12,900. So mines in the middle on price and mileage, So I think maybe £500 cheaper. I'll see how many calls I get over the weekend. Thanks for your help

I could keep it. I'm not driving at the moment and it's sitting quite safely on my drive, so I'm in no rush to sell it. I thought I would have had more calls, even if it was just from timewasters or people hoping they could knock me down on the price. Oh well, have to wait and see. Thanks for your help
